side dish ideas
my2monkeyboys wrote: I plan on making some stuffed bell peppers for dinner tomorrow, using gr. beef, diced tomatoes, Italian seasonings, onions, and cheese topping. I am looking for a good side or 2 for them. I am thinking corn, mashed potatoes or alfredo noodles and rolls. What do you normally serve with these? Thanks!
luvmykids replied: I actually don't make a side dish when I make those because I put rice in mine, I figure it's a good all-in-one dish but if you think it's just not quite enough a salad and some texas toast or something sounds good.
stella6979 replied: I agree!
mckayleesmom replied: We always do mexican rice when we make those....yummy.
my2monkeyboys replied: I have had them with rice in them, but I wanted to try a slightly Italian flavor to it this time.. that's why I'm having a hard time figuring out what side(s) to make with it. Hmmmmm.... I know all this has made me ready for them!! Thanks for the ideas!
A&A'smommy replied: you could do some garlic bread, or a salad
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: What about a tomato and basil salad. They call it caprise salad...not sure if I spelled it right. But you slice tomatoes, add chopped fresh basil, slice mozarella cheese. Add olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
I also suggest a big caesar salad and maybe some grilled asparagus.
Calimama replied: Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmy!!! This thread is making me hungry!
Brias3 replied: Me too!
I'd do a salad (the caprese one sounds yummy with this dish!) and bread too. I usually don't do a side with stuffed peppers either- just fresh bread or something!
luvmykids replied: OH YUM, that is one of my favorites. I also like to use all the same ingredients (minus the oil and vinegar) to make a grilled cheese sandwich. It's especially yummy on sourdough
redchief replied: Mac and Cheese... what time is dinner?
my2monkeyboys replied: If my DH was home, it may would be moved up to lunch!!! I'm starving for them now!!!
