scary doctor appt

what was the heart beat? girl or boy heart rate???

hopefulmomtobe replied: The doctor did the ultrasound and only saw the heartbeating but for whatever reason could not hear it. I was really wanting to see if it was a girl heartbeat or a boy too....dang it. I guess we will have to wait another 4 weeks to hear it. Ugh!! He said something about the placenta is right over the baby and is blocking the heartrate unit thingy from getting to the baby. Sounded like a wierd answer, but what can ya do. Atleast I saw it beating. He stood there for a long time trying to find it, like 5-6 minutes and yes, I was totally freaking!

I mean, to be almost 14 weeks and not hear the heartbeat is kinda wierd. If he doesn't hear it next time then him and I are going to have a little talk. But, thank God he atleast checked by ultrasound and didn't just blow it off because I would be really going nuts!

CantWait replied: Glad everything was alright. 13 weeks still isn't that far along, so not hearing it is nothing to be concerned about. I'm sure your next visit it'll be loud and strong.

amymom replied: Very Scary indeed! I am glad he brought you to the u/s and checked it that way. The same thing happened to me at my 12 week visit with Mary Beth and doctor did same thing, It was very comforting.

The same thing actually happened to me when I was pregnant with Maegan. The doctor had to do a u/s, come to find out I was not as far along in my pregnancy as they thought.
