oppinions on diaper bags....

mummy2girls wrote: Today like a goof i broke the zipper off of Jennas diaper bag. I wouldnt feel as bad but this will be #2 I broke. What kind of bags do you have and what brands..Have you had any toruble. I am going to get a really good one but i just dont know what kind..HELP!

MomToJade&Jordan replied: Actually the diaper bag I have for Jade came from Hot Topic. It's blue and has a fairy on it. It has a clasp front and three differnt compartments. The strap is situated in a way that I can wear it across my body. I know it's not the conventional diaper bag, but it works for us.

Jamison'smama replied: I have a few--the one I use most often is the Eddie Bauer one- it is small with a long strap which I like. I have a bigger one that is a Vera Bradley tote but the straps don't fit over the stroller handle so I only use it for church or places where I wouldn't need a stroller. The third bag I use is a back pack--just a cute pink Eastpak. I use it when I travel--it is wonderful with tons of pockets!

I never had a problem with any of them.

kit_kats_mom replied: Both of my Eddie Bauer diaper bags have had problems. On the small bag, the velcro that holds the back pocket closed came unstitched on one side so now that pocket just gapes open & the zipper broke on both bags. sad.gif I was expecting a little bit better quality.

jem0622 replied: I would honestly just buy a backpack and put my stuff in it. Why pay more b/c they call it a diaper bag and put some extra things in there? You can slip a changing pad in and keep some gallon sized freezer bags and grocery bags to hold important items.

amynicole21 replied: I broke 3 diaper bags before I gave up and just bought a nice backpack. It is GREAT and DH doesn't feel like a chump carrying it rolleyes.gif

aspenblue1 replied: I bought mine from wilson's leather.

The backpack sounds like a great idea.

coasterqueen replied: We used to use diaper bags, but DH didn't like carrying around "feminine" bags tongue.gif So we bought a backpack. I just bought one at Old Navy right around school time when they were on sale for $9.99! Great buy! It's been an awesome bag and MUCH MORE comfortable than those diaper bags wink.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I agree with everyone else on using a back pack. It is so much easier. Besides, she won't need a diaper bag very much longer. The back pack will last a while and you will probably spend less $$.

I have 2 diaper bags for Ethan. One is not a diaper bag (technically) but is perfect. It is a black bag from the Gap with buckle snaps in the front. It has divided sections inside and pockets. It is big and perfect for long trips. And not feminine at all (for DH). wink.gif The other one is small and goes across the shoulder diagonally. It is black and is a diaper bag. It is flat and has lots of pockets. Not really a lot of room for bottles and such, but since I will BF I think it is perfect for a few diapers on a quick outing. I can't remember the brand, but I got it at a specialty shop here in Dallas. It came with a changing pad and ice pack. biggrin.gif

Good Luck! thumb.gif

paradisemommy replied: i just use a backpack and have never had any problems..smile.gif

kimberley replied: ITA with getting a back pack. the only reason i have a diaper bag now is because it was a shower gift but i went through a few with the boys. i paid $45 for a good one and toys r us and it lasted all of a couple of months. mad.gif it was a waste of money and not big enough for 2 babies.

victoire2002 replied: I just bought some cool bags from Target. I have a nylon one that is about the size of a purse for my daily use. When I want to look as if I am not toting around our whole house, I just take out the baby stuff, and there it is, very cute and looks like a purse.

The other one I use is a laptop bag that is very groovy, and I use this when I need to haul around a lot of stuff. It fits across the back of the stroller just fine, and still manages to do what I need it to do--- hold diaper stuff, drinks, etc. Best thing? I only paid $8 for each one..... and when I get sick of them, I can go back to Target and get some new ones on sale again!

BTW, I started noticing that around 12 months, we just don't need to bring as much "stuff" with us. Plus, I keep diapers and wipes in the car at all times so often I even leave those out of the bag.
