A&A'smommy wrote: Alyssa lymph nodes are HUGE the one on the right side of her neck is about the size of a golf ball and the other side is smaller. I notice the big one yesterday and today the other side started swelling it kinda scared me at first we were about to rush to the emergency room but Jeremiah called his mom and she said she has seen them like that before (on her kids) and just to watch her and if it hasn't gotten better by monday to take her to the doctor so today I called my dad and asked him something about church and told him why we weren't going... I talked to my mom and then my dad called earlier and wanted to know if I needed my mom to go with me and she is FREAKING out so now I am I'm thinking about calling the ped office to see if I can talk to a nurse tonight.. I keep wondering if that is FOR SURE her lymph nodes what if its something else.. what if their is something REALLY wrong with her!! I need a little reasurrance...
this is the right side and I outlined where its swollen at
and this is the other side I outlined it too

My3LilMonkeys replied: IMHO calling the office and speaking to a nurse is a great idea. You can never be too careful.
I know at our ped's if you call after hours they will page a dr. and have them call you back...it might not be our specific ped, just whichever dr. in the practice is on call that night.
Hope everything turns out ok!
A&A'smommy replied: NO weird symtoms, no fussiness... no fever she is eating perfectly and drinking really well playing good... although everyday this week she was fussy and she threw up twice two different days I just thought she was teething and I gave her soem motrin friday because she was a little fussy and just acted like she didn't feel good after I gave her that she was fine!!

mummy2girls replied: I am so sorry i didnt respond but ive been in and out all day:( I would bring her in tomorrow fpr sure! Maby she is starting to come down with something. keep us posted
Jamison'smama replied: Poor little girl, you can definately see the swelling and I agree--looks like little red circles under her eyes--although she is still a beauty. Let us know what you find out.
3xsthefun replied: How is she doing today? Hope everything is ok.
MommyToAshley replied: How is she today? Give her lots of hugs from us and update when you can.
redchief replied: The nurse's surprise is understandable. Swollen lymph nodes like that nearly always mean there's some sort of infection. I wouldn't worry too much about the size other than the discomfort she'll feel from them. The warm compresses are a good idea. I'm sure there's some infection somewhere in her she's fighting.
Gr33n3y3z gets swollen lymphs like that and so did our son John.
A&A'smommy replied: It just seriously freaked me out because I have NEVER seen or heard of anything like that anyway I'm taking her to the ped today hopefully its nothing.
coasterqueen replied: Jessy Ann. I would be freaked too. Let's just hope it's a minor infection. Keep us posted.
jcc64 replied: Jessy- As hard as it is to do, try not to freak out. I've been through this with both boys, especially Noah. In fact, the first time I noticed them, we were on a family vacation in Cape Cod, and it completely freaked me out. Totally ruined the entire vacation for both my mother and I- we were convinced he had leukemia. I was a mess, to say the least. Took him to the dr when we returned, and they told us it was a "shoddy node"- a lymph node that becomes swollen for any number of reasons- a cold, a bug bite, toothache, sore throat, etc. Sometimes, they can remain swollen for months and months. In fact, Noah's were visible for years, every time he turned his head a certain way, I could see them. Only recently have I noticed that they seem to have shrunken back to size. I believe this is a fairly common occurance, and you're right to check it out, but I am pretty certain you are probably dealing with a similiar thing. good luck, hon, she's gonna be fine.
