ok, I might lose it soon............... - what is up with her????????????

ediep wrote: ok, what the heck is going on with Emma? I need some advice.....

Seems like every night she fights us to go to sleep... I have been letting her cry in her crib, which she has never needed to do, but usually she falls asleep. Then at about 11pm, she gets up crying and nothing soothes her. I have tried motrin, milk, rocking, singing, walking, music, laying in our bed ......

then when I am at my wits end, I bring her downstairs and we watch the Wiggles, sometimes she'll fall asleep downstairs and I try to carefully bring her up to bed, sometimes it works, sometimes not.

last night she was up from 11pm until about 2am then she finally went to sleep and I get her in her crib without to much crying.

what is going on????????????

msoulz replied: Teeth? Separation anxiety? Oh, the list goes on - if only we knew what is in their little heads. I remember similar incidents with Erin around that time. I hope she gets through it soon hug.gif - sometimes after a few days of odd sleeping and it just goes away as mysteriously as it started.

MommyToAshley replied:
I remember going through a few rough patches with Ashley and I never did figure out what was wrong -- it could be teething, gas/upset tummy (has she tried any new food?), separation anxiety, ears, etc. I know she's had ear infections in the past, maybe you should have her ears checked again. They don't always run a fever and that can make them hard to diagnose.

hug.gif hug.gif I hope you figure it out soon and you all get some rest.

ediep replied: thanks Ladies

I just spoke with the doc becasue Jason has an upset tummy and some diarrhea so he called to cheeck on him, I updated him on Jason and then I asked him about Emma. I suggested that maybe the fluid in her ears is bothering her, but he seems to think its separation anxiety or her tummy bothering her. he said to try motrin tonight and update him in a few days.

I am not really comfortable leting her cry, because she gets so worked up that she will start chocking and vomit just from crying a lot.

any other options?

momofone replied: If you want to look for this product Gentle Naturals Disney baby Tummy Soother
i found it at my local supermarket maybe babies r us may sell it it is calming even if there is no tummy aches cuz it contains chamomile in it

A&A'smommy replied: have you tried maybe a new bedtime routine something more relaxing, bath, music, a book and then sleep time?? just a suggestion

I hope you two get some sleep soon!!! hug.gif hug.gif

Boys r us replied: Hey!! Ohhh how we most definitely have girls the same age!
I'm going through this too and the sleepless nights are killing me. I'm about to lose my mind!!!!
I'll get up with her and then I'll hold her and we'll go to the family room and she'll be happy with me rocking her and then all of a sudden she'll want down and I'll let her get down..then she screams b/c I put her down and she wants back up...

My point is Edie, I have no advice, but all of the sympathy in the world!!!!!! let me know if you find something that works! I really am thinking it's a seperation anxiety.

ediep replied:
glad I'm not alone....

I am so tired of watching the wiggles at 2am!!

Tonight my plan is to lether cry a bit and see what happens

ediep replied: sleep nazi.... are you out there?????

Jen????

moped replied:
Ha, too funny

Yep, I am reading girl!!!

You know how to fix it! tongue.gif You are the boss - remember that!

What time do you put her to bed?

ediep replied:
I put her in bed about 8.

Last night was great! She went to sleep after 1 minute of crying, then whenever she woke during the night, she let out one cry or talk then put herslf back to sleep

moped replied: Does she sleep 12 hours at night and 2 good naps?.....well maybe one if she is 15 months?

At her age she needs 12 hours at night and as long as you let her soothe herself and be consistent she will know. If you go in she knows that eventually you will come in for some late night play time - NOT!!!!!!!!

It is a prime age to start testing her boundaries with bed - don't let her win! tongue.gif
I should also mention that it is a phase as long as you be firm with her - it will pass in about a week or so is my guess.....

Any other questions?

ediep replied: thanks so much Jen, I thought she was testing us (she is kind of bossy wink.gif )

She sleeps about 11 hours a night and takes a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon

I'm going to keep up what I started last night, hopefully she'll get the picture soon

ps- she is almost 18 months

redchief replied: I don't know, but maybe you have a budding night owl on your hands. We had this problem with Erin for a while as well. Perhaps holding her quietly without the Wiggles will allow her to fall asleep faster? I don't know... dunno.gif We were never very good at letting our kids cry either. In all cases the issues passed eventually, but I know what you're going through. hug.gif
