I went to change L's runny diaper and laid her on the changing pad in K's room. There is a small bookcase where we keep the pull ups and the pull ups were all gone. I noticed on the shelf, a bunch of little ball's. It looked a little like someone had spilled some grain or something. I picked a few up and they all were the same shape...kinda like eggs or something. So I changed L's diaper then took the bookcase outside. Then vaccumed the remaining balls off of the carpet. Then I went outside and inspected the bookcase. There was a small hole where it appeared the balls were coming from. I prodded it and it crumbled....behind it...two wormy termites. So I called the Orkin man and hopefully he will be here soon. I have the willies so badly right now. Shivers, goose pimples..the whole bit. ewwwwwwwwww!!!

cameragirl21 replied: sorry to hear that, Cary, but i don't understand--i have seen termites and they don't look like worms, they look like giant ants with wings. is there another kind of termites? gross.
moped replied: OH no!!!!!!!!!
kit_kats_mom replied: yes. there are a few different kinds of termites. I did my search on whatsthatbug.com and it looks just like them. According to the orkin site, the little balls are actually termite turds. I'm normally not a skittish person when it comes to bugs and such but a few things have me really wierded out by these. first, they were all around the girls pull ups....how long have they been there? second, they are in my babies room. Blech! I keep getting itches all over my body now. gag
1lilpeanut2love replied: Ut OH!!!! EWWWWWWW! Hope you day/ night gets better soon!
moped replied: Ahhhh that is bad. YOu are having a rough time. So, is it because of your warmer climate that you would get them????
cameragirl21 replied: ok, i know this is gross but now i'm curious--how big were the worms and were they slimy? did you catch them and kill them or are you waiting to give the orkin man that pleasure? yuck, i love caterpillars but worms i do NOT like.
Calimama replied: Ewww. I really hope you get a break soon.
kit_kats_mom replied: LOL. they weren't that big. Maybe a little smaller than 1/4"? I threw the bookcase outside for the Orkin man to inspect to verify that they are indeed termites. Then we will need a home inspection to see if they are in the house too....hopefully they are not. My fingers are crossed that they were just in that bookcase when we picked it up at a yardsale last year & that they haven't left it.
lisar replied: Oh Nasty... I hope the orkin man gets rid of them for you.
cameragirl21 replied: oh, thank God, i pictured gigantic three inch long worms that were oozing slime...i have a very vivid imagination, can you tell? yeah, i hope they're just in the bookcase, i'm leary about tenting and it's a major PITA, you have to take all your food out of the house and it kills all the plants around your house, yuck.
kit_kats_mom replied: ROFL Jennifer. Thanks for the smile.
If you want to see the bugs that nightmares are made of, go to that whatsthatbug.com. they have some worms on there that are 5 feet long...I kid you not. Horse whip worms or something like that.
Donna027 replied: eeewwww I hate termites with a passion!

MomToJade&Jordan replied: Okay Ew! I really hope they were just in the bookcase. Termites do tend to be a problem here in Florida because of the climate.
luvmykids replied: EEEEEwwww. Hope they're not in the house
jcc64 replied: Termites freak me out. Your house is pretty new, isn't it, Cary?
