new guy needs help - baby bed

i have been up for the past 3 hours searching online for a bed we want and can no longer find it or what its called. it is an infant bed that attaches to your bed and hangs there. letting your baby sleep right beside of you. anyone know what im talking about? i remember seeing a pic of it a month or 2 ago, but now dont remember where or what its called.


please help me! i want to get this. we are starting to buy little gifts for our upcoming little one. (dont know the sex yet...hopefully we will at our doc appointment on Valentines day! )

What you're looking for is a co-sleeper and they're available all over the place. I never had one, but I'm sure some of the others here will recommend brands or give you a heads up to the pros and cons of some of them.

my2monkeyboys replied: I have a bassinette that can be taken off it's base and strapped around your bed. It also has a fold-down side so you can just pull the whole thing up next to the bed, and move it when you need to get up. I got it at Babies'R'Us for about $100. I used it for the first 3-4 months, so it was well worth it to me.

J-rod replied: that sounds exactly what i am looking for. i found co-sleeper's on babies r us ...but all i could find listed was the bedding for it. ie blankets and such. couldnt find the sleeper itself.


ok...im gonna need more help..just went back to babies r us and looked at co-sleepers and they look like large cribs....man i am so in the dark about this stuff. LOL it doesnt look like what i saw before....can some of you experienced people show me the right direction.

my2monkeyboys replied: try looking for a bassinette that has the feature of attaching to the bed. It may just not be labeled as a co-sleeper, kwim?
check this one out.. not sure if it straps to the bed or not,but it says it is a bed-side sleeper. Either way, I wish they had this one when my son was born... it's pretty awesome!

Not sure what it's called, but they also have a thing that you put in bed with you that has raised sides so don't roll over on the baby. That may be another option, too.

CAMSMOM1 replied: I also had a bassinet for my son. I loved it! I was breastfeeding, so it was easy access to the baby. And since I didn't want the baby in our bed, this was the next best thing.
Remember bassinets have a weight limit. Usually by 3 months, they are to heavy for the bassinet/co-sleeper.

Another option is a Pack & Play. It is a play pin, with a bassinet & changing table in one. I think it's a smarter way to go, since you can use it until there 4-5 years old. I love my Pack & Play, its from GRACO. Yes, it's bulky, but it's really convientant when you are taking the baby somewhere, or someone is babysitting.

J-rod replied: thank you all. we both really like that bassinet. looks just like something we had in mind. ive heard of pack-n- plays but never seen them. my older sister has one for her newest baby, but i dont live around there anymore so havent seen it.

C&K*s Mommie replied: another good website for any of your babies needs that you may not ever have thought of is One Step Ahead They have great, unique items. They can also be a little pricey, but I think they are well worth it. Esp with the unusual things that are not available everywhere.

ETA: When your child gets older, and more away from the baby things. They have an online store called Leaps and Bounds they have great things there as well. I just love to flip through the catalogs and see what is new.
