my daughter cut off all her hair - hair cutting

lee wrote: my 3 1/2 year old cut off all her hair. she looks like a boy and said now she is a boy. is this a normal stage of development?

MommyToAshley replied: Oh No! grouphug.gif

I haven't given my DD scissors yet since she is only 2, but I remember that my niece did the same thing when she was that age. She actually cut off her ponytail! ohmy.gif Her hair was short for awhile, but it grew back out quickly. I think it is a normal stage, and I am not looking forward to my DD's haircutting nightmare that will probably happen.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: ohmy.gif OMG! I went through this with Emily, but she just cut pieces off and we had to take her to get a Haircut. I think it's normal! grouphug.gif I hope it grows back quickly! grouphug.gif Until it does maybe dress her in pink so people will know she is a girl! grouphug.gif

MomToMany replied: Yep, perfectly normal stage. She's just curious what the differences are between boys and girls. It's also a common age where they play "doctor" to see the differences.

So sorry she cut off all of her hair sad.gif .

kit_kats_mom replied: totally normal. I used to LOVE scissors & experimented a lot with all the glory that they could bring. I tried to cut everything with scissors. Loved em so much that I cut off my eyelashes and hair...talk about a wierd looking kid. rolleyes.gif

My poor mom. LOL

trolkeeper replied: THANKS FOR ALL THE HELPFUL POST. HER NEW LOOK IS ACTUALLY STARTING TO GROW ON ME. ALTHOUGH I WOULD HAVE NEVER GIVEN HER THIS CUT. IT IS KINDA CUTE!! WHAT DO YOU THINK?

lsjulee replied: Well I don find it any bad. wub.gif In fact the cut looks nice on her. wub.gif No way she looks like a boy. I see a stylish little young lady. wub.gif

kimberley replied: lol poor mommy. i agree this phase is normal. my younger son has cut his and his older brother's hair. just curiosity i guess. i think she looks cute.

Josie83 replied: A smile like that, how could you be annoyed!! wub.gif She looks like a bag of mischief!! wub.gif I don't know what to say to you, but I agree that it doesn't look that bad and she's just naturally curious about the difference between boys and girls, like Mollie says. My daughter Cassie's older cousins Jodi and kim tease her for playing about with cars and trains, but I don't see any harm - as long as they're happy! Welcome to the boards by the way!! wavey.gif xx

Alice replied: My 3 year old niece did hers over the summer, and had the same haircut as your daughter!! It looks great, by the way!!

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: My niece did the same thing when she was in preschool. My step-sister was so sad but everyone else loved it...it was cute, as is your daughters.

ediep replied: it looks cute!

My sister cut her bangs off when she was a kid. It looked so funny.

Mommy2BAK replied: I really wouldn't worry about it! I was the worlds worst... HAHA.... when I was 5 I cut off my bangs the day before I was to be the flower girl in my Aunt's wedding (she wanted to KILL me!). And then when I was about 10 and my sister was 4 I cut her hair (long blonde locks) to look like that Jennifer Anistan stylish do back in the day!

My poor mom wanted to kill me, but hey I wanted to be a hairdresser! rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif
