delma

Kaitlin'smom wrote: okay with christmas fast approaching, I am working on getting things bought, or a least a list of thing I need to get, here is my delma, as most of you know the oldest sister is a pain-in-the-you-know-what, and I have not spoken to in months after out 'talk' shortly after my other sister got married in early may. Well she has 3 kids and while we dont see them now I still want to do something for chrsitmas, so I figured gift cards, but I dont know how much. SO I ask DH this morning (and he was not so dear) and he said not much. He is still really PO'd at our oldest nephew for not calling us to let us know he got his birthday card and check, i am also hurt but I know why and I know its no excuse he is 16 for goodness sake he should know (and he does) better. So now I am torn on how much to get them for, I totaly see his point, but on the other side why should they suffer for ther mothers stupidity. what would you do?

Boys r us replied: Hmm...maybe do like $25 for the kids to a store that they like and maybe 50 as a joint gift card to a restaurant.

GavinsMommy replied: I agree...

If you are going to get something, send them all to dinner or to do something else that they all enjoy doing together, if anything. I'd get the older nephew a gift certificate...but not for much. How old are the other two? If they're under ten I would get them a small gift or gift certificate to a toy store or something.

Kaitlin'smom replied: sorry the kids are

16 (boy)
8 (girl)
6 (boy)

Boys r us replied: What about this?

Go to a movie theater, ask them for one of their popcorn buckets(empty)..then buy them movie tickets(enough for the whole family) and maybe a gift cert that can be used for refreshments. Then fill the bucket with bags of movie type candy and maybe a couple of bags of microwave popcorn and a gift card for blockbuster.
Put everything inside the bucket..then it's a family gift.

coasterqueen replied: Okay are you wanting to get just the kids something or your sister and BIL something as well? Sorry not "all here" today wink.gif.

Kaitlin'smom replied:
well thats another problem but right now we are just planning on the kids, I will have somehting for them *if* they come to our extended family christmas and give us something they I will giv them something but I am so not going out of my way this year on things they want but dont get any apprication for

coasterqueen replied: Well we just buy for all the kids on DH's side of the family so we up'ed our spending limit from $30 to $50 when we went that direction. So that's about what we spend.

I think any amount is a nice gesture though wink.gif.

Kaitlin'smom replied:
not in her eyes mad.gif

sorry to be a bit rude there but this is so hard, I hate to "take it out" on the kids for her selfishness, rudeness, and just plain stupidity. but on the other hand I dont want to "reward" them either. KWIM?

kimberley replied: i like nichole's movie gift idea. otherwise i would go with $25 for each kid. good luck with your decision.

mama3x replied: Personally I wouldn't go over $10 each for the 8 and 6 yr old and $15 for the oldest. However you could still do the movie thing for the kids only.

aspenblue1 replied: I know when we buy for the kids it is usually around 25.00
