daycare/home providers - what would u like to get from the kids ?
boyohboyohboy wrote: I am taking this idea off an earlier post this am, but what kinds of presents are good presents for the daycare/home providers from the kids?
holley79 replied: Thanks for asking Stacey. I was just wondering the same thing.
mummy2girls replied: im a home provider... in the past I have gotten gift certificates to my fav place to get clothes, IKEA, resturaunts, etc. and i have gotten bonuses before which helped expecially around christmas time. and bath sets.
holley79 replied: Good idea. I will see what I can come up with then.
TheOaf66 replied: Jennie gets gift certificates to restaurants etc. One year she got a sterling silver star dish like thing that had little stars in it with all the kids names engraved on their own star...that was kind of cool.
coasterqueen replied: I've known my daycare provider for over 4 years now. She is SO private that I don't know that much about her unfortunately.
In the past I've gotten her gift certificates for places to eat, which later I find out really aren't her type of places to eat but are her husbands.
I've also gotten her flowers (that was on her birthday). I've gotten her candles and candle holders.
But the past two years I give her 1 weeks pay from Ryan and I and then she gets something small from the girls.
boyohboyohboy replied: calebs preschool is so wonderful, and is in a baptist church, and i cant be happier with what he has learned both academically, and spiritually. so i wanted to get them something nice. do most schools have a policy on teachers accepting gifts?
mckayleesmom replied: Maybe you can buy something for the daycare itself instead...if they don't let the teachers except gifts.....Maybe some new toy bins or shelves.
boyohboyohboy replied: i was thinking that they need a new computer moniter, they have a computer but no moniter for the kids. thats a great idea
mckayleesmom replied: Im sure that would be very appreciated.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Gift certificates to restaurants or a gift certificate to a teacher supply store. On the other hand though, it would be nice to get something NOT teacher related or work related so I'd have to go with the first one. Other than that, a certifcate for a message would be awesome too!!! We teachers are a stressed bunch!
Boo&BugsMom replied: Stacy, I have never worked somewhere where the teachers could not accept gifts (personally I think a policy like that is rubbish!) but you could ask the director/principal just to be for certain. Usually something like that should be in the parent handbook when you enroll your child.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I got that for teacher appreciation week. It was very nice. It was a star shaped trinket box that had "Best Teacher Ms. Jennie" engraved on the front. Inside were little pewter stars with a child's name engraved on each one. All the parents chipped in for it. I still have it and it was one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever recieved. The best part about it is that one of my daycare girl's picked it out herself.
