Kaitlin'smom wrote: Katlin had a fever last friday and the doc office told me to alternate between tyonal and motrin after that one broke she was fine weill the stitter called me and she has a fever again almost 103, i had her give her some tyanol and i pick her up in less than 1/2 hour, so I wait again or take her in. I dont knwo if she is comming down with something or more teeth, see I noticed last week after the same temp the next morning her bottem molers had broken part in.....I feel so bad for her.

amynicole21 replied: I think up to 103 when they are over 3 or 6mos old is ok. If it has come back, though, I would take her in to the doc (probably not the ER, just the Ped). It could be an ear infection. You can still give her tylenol and motrin until you can make an appointment, but only should if she really isn't acting right (overly sleepy and clingy or really cranky for example). Otherwise, temps are actually helpful in getting rid of whatever bug has got a hold of her. I hope she's feeling better soon@!!!! grouphug.gif

A&A'smommy replied: Awww I hope she gets better soon! (((BIG HUGS)))

paradisemommy replied: cold baths always worked wonders for us but i would start freaking at like 104 and i went to the er at 106. i have always had a hot baby anyways so i just kinda have to play it by ear. he HATES taking any medicine and i have to fight him to take it and even then, he'll spit it out or throw it up.

hope she is feeling better soon..teething and/or a sick toddler is no fun... grouphug.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: Well when I got her home I took her temp and it was down to 100.6 and just now I put her to bed and it was down to 99.3 and she was just about herself running around the house. I truly think its her molers, I spoke to a few people and they to have had there toddlers experince fevers just before the tooth breaks the surface. I will see how she is tomorrow and if she continutes with them I will take her to the ped on Sat.

kimberley replied: when Jacob was a baby, i rushed him to the ER when his temp got to 104 and they weren't very concerned. they said if he was like that for days he should see his ped if he didn't respond to tylenol. they emphasized the fact that a fever is only a symptom and not the problem and that baby's temp is normally high (101 if i remember correctly is still normal)

i hope Kaitlin is better soon. grouphug.gif grouphug.gif

ediep replied: awwww, poor baby!! That temp seems kind of high to me....I'm not too sure though. Jason runs a little warm when he is cutting teeth, but 103 seems high to me. I'd take her in to see the ped just to get her ears and throat checked.

Good luck!! Hope she is cool as a cuke tomorrow!! (as my mom would say) rolling_smile.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
I was going to say the same thing, 103 sounds a little high for teething. Ashley gets mildly warm, around 99 or so. But, I think I would take her to get checked if she had 103 temp. Do you think she could have caught the strep throat that you had?

I hope she's feeling better soon! grouphug.gif

3_call_me_mama replied: Cameron was running high temps last weekend through yesterday. At night especially they were around 104.3 under the arm. I called the DR at 4 in the morning and he siad it was most likely an ear infection and to take himto the er if i wanted or wait till the office opened at 9. Cameron kept waking twitching adn screaming every few minutes but was finally asleep when the dr called me back so i just waited until; AM. Turns out that after almost 18 months he has his first ear infection... poor kid.. HE was miserable for teh last 4 days!!! But on Mondaywe got him meds so he's finally coming around.

coasterqueen replied: Di,

Kylie never had fevers or runny noses with any of her teeth but when it came time to her 2 year molars she's had fevers, runny noses, congestion. So it is possible teething is the culprit. Hope she feels better real soon!

jcc64 replied: OK, 1st of all, I highly doubt a fever of 103 is teething related.
2nd, I have a lot of experience in the fever freak out dept. my oldest ds (now 11) ran a fever of 105.5 for 5 days straight! I was hysterical. On the 1st day, my brother the ped. checked him out and then told me to stop taking his temp if it was gonna make me crazy(which I ignored) and to alternate tylenol and motrin to keep him comfy. . He said he's seen kids go over 106. What he's told me is the # is less significant than the rapidity with which it rises or falls. That is often where the seizures can occur. So, I need to mention, while we're on the subject :

that he said this is a big no-no. Warm or tepid baths are fine, cold baths can cause the temp to fall too rapidly and lead to seizures.
Go by your child's behavior more than the numbers. Are they unusually lethargic, limp. complaining of other weird symptoms? Go see the ped if it goes on for more than a few days. But a trip to the ER is usually not necesary for a fever like that.

Kaitlin'smom replied: thanks for all the responses she is fine today, and like I said by the time I got her home it was just over 100 and she was acting like herself. I did check on her alot last night just to make sure she did not spike back up, and alternated between tyanol and mortrin as the doc said to do last week. I have not have had the chance to look in her mouth but I honslty think it was her teeth again, I will look and see if more came in.

DansMom replied: I'm so glad to hear she's feeling better and temps down!
