Wow, I never knew!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: Well so far so good! Wesley latched on just fine from the start and feeding like a champ. I met with a LC at the hospital (never did this with Wil) and I have to say...WOW, I definitely should have met with one sooner the first time! I BF Wil for 8.5 months, with no problems that I knew of, but it's so great to get feedback on what you're doing right/wrong. The LC said my latch was great, position was good too, but I took my pump to the hospital and noticed that I was getting really sore from it, where I wasn't getting sore with Wesley. Just the pump. So she took a look at it and said that the cones I was using were too small! I had no idea! I had the Medela single electric which was a hand-me-down from my sister, but I just used the cones my sis gave me...never thinking there were different sizes. Well I guess your nipples get larger after each pregnancy, so mine were rubbing against the sides of the cone and causing me to get sore and super swollen! So the LC gave me FREE new larger cones and what a difference! I asked her if they sold just the motors at the hospital and she said yes. But instead of just the motor, she sold me the whole brand new PIS Advanced for only $200! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!! I never thought I needed the double since I don't work, but OMG, what a difference. And I can't complain about the deal! It comes with a cute blue and brown diaper bag to tote it around in too!! I also made more of an effort this time to buy really good nursing bras...and again, what a difference!!
Just wanted to share that BF is going well and that I reccomend seeing a LC to anyone if you get a chance. We have a LC in our ped's office, so I may go and see her too just for more opinions.

coasterqueen replied: Glad things are going well. It's definitely worth seeing a LC. I saw one constantly for the 1st 9 months of Kylie's life and many times after that. And many times w/Megan as well. I got to know the woman so well I know where she lives, etc, etc. One thing I liked is my LC had a Bf Mom's support group at the hospital. We'd meet once a week for lunch and just chatting w/other BF moms. Those of us experienced would go around and give our hands on advice to ones who were just starting out, etc. It was fun.
ETA did she give you the soft fit shield ones? I LOVE those. They are like the cadillac of horns IMO.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Hmm, I'm not sure. They aren't "soft". They are just larger. They have numbers on the cone. I used to be using a 24 and these are 30s. So you can imagine the difference!
coasterqueen replied: Are they hard? If so they are just regular plastic horns. The soft fit ones are gel like and IMO the best at feeling comfortable over the hard plastic ones. But since you aren't pumping full time or w&p the hard ones should be fine. Glad you got the right size. It makes all the difference, I remember.
amynicole21 replied: Yayyy!! So glad it's going well for you. Bravo for your LC making it a good experience for you, too

On a side note. Wes looks so much like Wil in your siggy pic, even at such a young age. Adorable.
holley79 replied: I'm glad that I had an LC with Annika. I was totally clueless. Glad things are going great.
