What'cha got cooking Good Looking? - Dinner 2/1
Boys r us wrote: Tonight we're either having Beach night or Chinese night.
I try to do a theme dinner once every couple of weeks, the kiddies love it. For Beach night I make seafood and virgin daquaris w/ umbrellas and we all were leis and play beach music. and for chinese food night we all sit in the floor with our kimonos(uhhh..bathrobes) and eat with our chopsticks off of the coffee table. It hink I'm leaning towards chinese food night..b/c that means getting take out and not cooking!
MomToMany replied: We're having the kids' favorite meal: sloppy joes and tater tots and baked beans. Its their turn to pick!
ammommy replied: Crockpot something or other. I have to work tonight. I know it will have chicken, but havent' figured out what else. Better get moving!
Nope, just found some leftover meatballs in the freezer, so that's what they are getting.
ediep replied: well I amde turkey chili last night and we still have some left....so thats what we are having again!!
coasterqueen replied: Nichole,
How do you have time to do that after working all day? What time do you get off of work girl?
By the time I get home from work we have 3 hours before it's Kylie's bedtime. By the time we cook dinner, eat it, clean up after it, get baths, play a bit, do bedtime routine...there's no time left, lol.
We will either have spaghetti, hamburgers, pizza or breakfast foods. That's all I have left in the house til I get groceries this Friday.
mom21kid2dogs replied: I think it's going to be Lazy Girl stuffed cabbage casserole. Got the recipie out of the paper last wekk and it sounded yummy. I'm in the mood to do something different. BTW, you theme night for dinner sounds really cute, Nichole! I've done a theme night once a week at bedtime if Olivia earns it and it's really fun so I think I'll try it for dinner! She thinks candlelight is a big deal so I'm sure she'll love it!!
Boys r us replied: Karen, I get off at 3:30, usually don't really get out of her until closer to 4pm. So by the time I pick Brae and Tan up and go to the grocery store(which I have to do everyday even if I do plan meals ahead..b/c I'm bad and always forget things) then I'm home by 5pm.
Honestly, a lot of nights, I don't feel like doing stuff like that, but it makes family time more fun and anymore I'm constantly battling with the xbox for Tanner's attention...so it requires fun and interesting things. Plus, this way, we sort of incoorporate playtime with dinner..ya know. It doesn't really take any longer to eat dinner with a lei on than without
TANNER'S MOM replied: Well we are having Spaghetti, with bread sticks and my special butter sauce..and a salad.
But DH is home early tonight. SO maybe I will jsut have to cook. ANd he will have everything else done.
coasterqueen replied: No it may not take longer to eat with a lei on but what I'm cooking might.
I just find it so hard these days to get a decent meal on the table. Or I should say my poor dh does since he cooks. We just don't have a lot of time and Kylie is so demanding when we get home, which is understandable that she doesn't even like us to take time out to cook.
Boys r us replied: Have u tried letting her help you guys cook? That's what I do with Braedon, he stands in a chair beside me and helps me do everything from cracking eggs to using the mixer!
coasterqueen replied: I have to laugh because that's a disaster waiting to happen. It takes longer when we let her do that. Oh well, we'll stick to fast meals during the week and not-so-fast ones on the weekends .
kimberley replied: cool idea Nichole. maybe i will have to do that some night too!
we are probably going to have mashed potatoes, pork chops and sweet corn
Kaitlin'smom replied: I am thinking spagatti...DH will cook tongiht since he is home way eariler than me on tuesdays
Chiflata2003 replied: We'll probably have take out as well, but maybe pizza.
3xsthefun replied: Not really sure maybe pork chops and some kind of veggies.
mom89 replied: Hmm not sure yet. hey can I come over to YOUR house for dinner? lol
mommy2owen replied: Tonight we are having chicken pot pie! with potatoes, greenbeans, corn, and carrots in it, Alyssa will never know!
gr33n3y3z replied: I'm making breakfest tonight Waffles , meat , Hash browns , fresh fruit salad
akbutterfly83 replied: I'm thinking spagetti(sp?), garlic bread, and salad, and a glass of milk....
that's a requierment in our house... 1 glass of milk with dinner... then you can have something else.... LOL....
akbutterfly83 replied: we had that last night.... without the greenbeans... we had peas insted.... I got a really good recipe for it... and made it from scratch... mmmm it was good....
mom21kid2dogs replied: Love 'Breakfast for Supper" nights!
Lollie replied: Hi...
Today for dinner I made grilled fish filled with spinach and cheese sauce, mixed veggies and cream of mushroom sauce. And for dessert we had blueberry cheescake ice-cream..Yummy!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: WW TV dinner, I'm sure.
3boys4me replied: Chicken and Noodles, Salad and Bread.
booey2 replied: Well I am having some kind of fish, or whole wheat spag with shrimp, garlic and oliveoil. DH - not too sure what he will eat tonight. The boys eat at the sitter so I am okay there.
loveydad replied: Steak, baked potatoes, brocilli, cottage cheese.
The twins are gonna have their first baked tators!
texasp3 replied: Same thing we had for dinner last night!!! Shrimp in garlic butter (mostly olive oil with a little butter) ... it came out so well last night that my teenager and I both went looking for more shrimp, but alas, it was gone! I had not made enough. Or as he put it, I did not take into account that it would be kick ass shrimp. So... since I still had shrimp in the freezer, we're just having it again tonight!! He'll have angle hair pasta with his, and I'll have a salad with mine. And I'm making TWICE as much tonight so we should be content.
I love these threads, btw... I get all kinds of ideas for meals.
