What kind of Diapers!
MilMunchMOM wrote: HELP!!! Emily is a bf baby and at least once a day she has a blow out. The best diapers i have found so far are the Luvs, but they still have thier moments.
What do/did you use and how did you like them?
Kaitlin'smom replied: My prefrence is Pampers they seem to be the best for us, luves are the second choise.
Huggies and White cloud just dont work well for us pluse I dont like the residue they leave on her...
5littleladies replied: You know, I really think it depends on the shape of your baby. We use Huggies and they work great for us. I've tried pampers and my kids blew out of them all the time. Just keep trying different kinds till you find one that works for you.
A&A'smommy replied: We use pampers they are awesome!
kimberley replied: we use pampers swaddlers. i found they came up higher in the back than the baby dry and keeps most explosions inside.
coasterqueen replied: Luvs were the worst for Kylie's blow-outs. She still has blow-outs, lol. We tried, White Cloud, Huggies, Luvs, Pampers and generic store brand like from Jewel Osco and Walgreens (those last two were on those emergency times, lol). Pampers were the only ones that did the best in containing the blow-outs. They also felt the softest. I always thought Huggies felt like cardboard, lol.
But when she got fidgety I gave up on diapers and went with the Pamper Pull-ups for Walkers.
booey2 replied: Hi, we tried huggies with both the boys and found that they felt damp on the outside, Pampers works the best in our house and now they don't feel so plasticy on the outside they are awesome.
MilMunchMOM replied: Its funny you mention it!!!! She is rolly polly LOL I have never seen thighs like these before. They are as big around as they are long. My other two were never this way. She has dimples where her knees should be. She is 4 months old and I need to use #2's so they fit around them, but her waist is not chubby at all. I bet thats my problem. The blow outs are stright up the back every time. hummmmmm!?
booey2 replied: Giggle giggle , that is probably the problem, when we had the like that I found I had to do up the waist just that much snugger and it fixed the problem like a charm.
jdkjd replied: Pampers. And I really love the Cruisers but their smallest size is 3.
Julie (jem0622) replied: I liked the Pampers early to prevent blowouts on clothes. After that I went between Luvs and Sam's Club brand. Love the Sam's Club brand.

paradisemommy replied: custom fit cruisers are what we've always used..they are the only ones that didn't have a blow out!!
Schnoogly replied: fitted cloth dipes are the only ones that have never blown out for us.
Cloth is easier than you think!! And cheaper too!!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: For us it is Luvs. When Jade was a newborn we used Huggies and they just didn't fit her right. We had countless blowouts and I was getting tired of it. When we finally switched to Luvs we didn't have any more problems. I think it is the shape of the body.
MylittlePaige replied: We have a Huggies girl over here. It is hard though, I think you just have to try a few out and I found when she was really little sometimes I had to really maneauver it on as good as possible so it was snug but still comfy.
Don't you hate those messy blow out ones though, I sure don't miss those!

MilMunchMOM replied: really...it's a shame i never considered cloth! I will look into that. Can you give me a hint as to where to start looking?
Elle replied: Pampers or Huggies work the best for Brighton... And he has TRULY chubby legs too! I tried cloth diapers with Alexis when she was a newborn, and they didn't work well. Her bum got all red, and it was really annoying to wash those things every time they got dirty... So I prefer use-and-throw-away diapers!
CantWait replied: We use Huggies Supreme, the backs come up higher and they don't give Anthony Diaper rash as much as the others. Also I find that if Anthony has outgrown a size he'll have more blowouts, so you might wanna try going up a size and seeing how that works. Good Luck
mommytosammy replied: Pampers Cruisers work with sammy the best. Last time we went out for a week I ran out. I used huggies that my sister uses and poor sammys bum got all rashed. first diaper rash, last week. does that count as a milestone.
Schnoogly replied: Yep. It's pretty confusing, 'tis true. You have a lot of options. A site that reviews diapers and different kinds is http://www.diaperpin.com/howto.asp
Basically, you have three choices.
First, you have the regular flat ("prefold") diapers which you can either pin on, use this rubber device called a "snappi" or just lay the diaper inside a tight fitting cover and fasten the cover like a disposable. The covers use velcro or snaps.
Or, you have fitted diapers that have elastic around the legs and waist and are shaped just like a disposable. They snap on, usually. Then you put a waterproof cover on top of that.
Third, you have "All in One" or pocket diapers. These are diapers that are diaper and cover all together, and are the easiest to put on (but also a little more expensive. Worth it, but more expensive). The "pocket" diapers are two layers, one waterproof outside and a microfleece inside that wicks moisture away, and you stuff them with the cotton diaper to absorb the pee. These keep baby really dry.
The cheapest option is prefolds and wraps like proraps or bummis or bumkins covers. Fitteds are the next expensive, and AIOs the most. Still, cheaper than premium disposable diapers since you only have to buy them once!!
What I do with dirty diapers:
I have a regular diaper pail (safety first) which I put a waterproof fabric bag inside (made by Bummis, bought online). Then I put the wet diapers in there with the covers. The poopy ones can also just go in there until the baby is eating solid foods. breastmilk poops wash right away, you don't have to toilet dunk or use a wet pail or anything nasty like that. But once the poop gets more solid, I just shake the lump into the toilet. You can also get flushable liners that you put inside the diaper and then toss the poop and liner into the toilet. I think Kushies makes some of these.
Then every other day (or every 3 days, depending) I wash the whole thing, bag liner and everything, in VERY hot water with regular old detergent. Then I rinse them again in hot water to get the detergent out. Then I put them into the dryer. And they come out super fresh!!
I don't worry about wasting diapers--you know when you've just changed them and they poop again--well, with cloth, no problem, you don't have to waste another diaper! You just wash it and it's good as new.
Plus they don't have that nasty perfumy smell like disposables. I hate that smell, I don't know how those of you who use disposables can stand it. Especially when poop/urine combines with it. GROSS!! And better for the environment and baby's skin. No chemicals next to baby's butt for 2+ years. ANd best of all, NO LEAKS! No poop blow outs!! Especially with AIOs or fitteds, the poop sticks to the diaper and the elastic keeps it inside the diaper. We have used disposables in a pinch, like when iain had bad diarrhea I couldn't keep up with the laundry, and the pampers cruisers leaked all the time. Especially at night! He pees so much at night no disposable can handle it. But with cloth, I customize the amount of absorbancy I need. I can add doublers inside his pocket diaper or fitted diaper and no leaks!
Let me know if you want to know more! I also make diapers to sell. I make pocket diapers out of fleece (great waterproof material, very soft) and a laminated knit fabric.
Here is Iain wearing a diaper I just made for him
A&A'smommy replied: Awww yes that is! We have had two one because we had just came home and I didn’t know what I was doing and the other because she was sick!
ediep replied: we use Huggies, They work pretty well. Jason occasionally has leaks, but not that often
3_call_me_mama replied: We swear by pampers! WE've used them since Cameron was born and when he really started walking we used the "First Steps" kinda like a pull-up but the hold a little more adn made it easier for quick changes. Since starting potty training we use the pampers "Easy Ups" just a larger version of the first steps but they hold a little less so we still use pampers cruisers at night.
MomToMany replied: Hey, Steph, I didn't know you made diapers to sell! I'd be interested in some pocket diapers! I'm really liking the prefolds and wraps, but I'm still using disposibles at night cause I just can't get them pinned right . My mom used cloth on 7 kids, and she showed me how to do it, but there must be something wrong with me, because I can't get it right. I've ordered some Snappis, hopefully they will work. But, I'd like some pocket diapers for when we are "out-and-about", cause we do a LOT of driving (it's an hour's drive to anywhere here), so I won't be changing the prefolds so much. I can't decide between the FB and HH's. There's just too many options out there, and they are SO darn cute!! I want some with cute prints for summertime, too, so they can just wear a T-shirt over them, and so I can show them off a little !
aspenblue1 replied: We usually use pampers.
