What has your baby done lately to amaze you?

MommyToAshley replied: Ashley was playing with her "barn" on the ground. (It is a cube made out of padded fabric that has shapes cut out on each side that little stuffed animals fit into the shapes) Well, she pulled the barn up to her face and was looking through a shape on one side of the barn and looking around room through the other side of the barn. That was funny enough, but then when I looked into the opposite side of the barn, she started laughing so hard. It cracked me up!

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I started teaching Zach some signs, for us to be able to understand him when he wants something. I've so far tried to teach him the sign for "milk", "change", and "eat".

Well th eother day, he was doing this fist thing with his hands...when I realized that it could have been the sign for Milk, so I gave him his bottle, and he was so happy!!!! thumb.gif

momofajcl replied: He's doing it right now...I put him down at 11:30 this AM and he's still asleep! It's almost 3:30! Amazing snooze.gif

ediep replied: Zach's mom...that is amazing! I wish that I had done that from the start!! It would be so great for the baby to be able to ask for what he wants!!!

TLCDad replied:
That is so neat. What are the signs for each?

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well the sign for Milk that we do is kind of like you're milking a cow..hold out your hand, and 'squeaze the teat' so to speak...open and close.... that's Milk.

Eat is you bring your hand to your mouth, kinda like you're putting something in it.

We do Change like this: make 2 fists, and rub your knuckles together

More is like this: Put all the tips of your fingers (on both hands separately) together, - picture people talking with their hands...one hand talks to the other.... but keep all your tips of fingers together rather than 'talking', and bring both hands's tips together a few times.

I don't really know how to explain it.... you can probably find some pics on Google or something...

TLCDad replied: I think you explained it pretty well actually! wink.gif Thank you.
This is so neat. We are gonna have to try this with Ashley. Thanks for telling us thumb.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: No problem! I felt kinda silly at first... but it's normal now!

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
[QUOTE]

(don't know if this quote thing worked...)

It's not too late to start....

MommyToAshley replied: Just curious, where did you learn the signs? Is there a book, video, or a web site you would recommend?

dhoppygirl replied: Peyton has almost learned the sign for more...everytime I do it when he is eating, he gets a goofy grin on his face biggrin.gif
One thing he has done to amaze me is completely cover the entire living room floor by either rolling or scooting backwards, all the while 'talking' to his toys!!! He is soo funny tongue.gif wub.gif

Dawn

MommyToAshley replied: Hmmm. Now I wanna see if Ashley can learn to sign too! smile.gif

hehe, sooo cute! biggrin.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
It's easier than you may think!! smile.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: how old was he when you started?
