What do you usually feed your kids - for breakfast and lunch?

MoonMama wrote: Just wondering and hoping to get some new healthy ideas. I think we're sick of the same kinds of stuff.

Crystalina replied: "Creamy" eggs. My kids ALWAYS want mommies creamy eggs. They are scrambled eggs with milk and butter.
They also love cereal. Only frosted mini wheats or cherios.
On the weekend it's creamy eggs with sausage/bacon, biscuits and gravy. That's our "sitting down" breakfast time because the week is so rush, rush. I usually make a big breakfast like that also because we always have things to do on the weekend and if we're in the car or somewhere else it will keep everyone full for quite some time.

That's pretty much it. We're boring. emlaugh.gif Sometimes Izabella will just want juice/milk and toast.

PrairieMom replied: organic oatmeal. It comes in flavor packs just like the other stuff, we get snickerdoodle and caramel apple flavors, then I add a titch of ground flax seed, (they think its brown sugar) tongue.gif yogurt, and 1/2 a bagel with cream cheese. every single day... rolleyes.gif

Ben eats school lunch, I don't even want to think whats in that stuff...

but Al will eat PB&J all natural peanut butter with sugar free organic jelly on 7 grain bread, with milk.

She will also some times eat spag. o's, there is an organic version of that too, but her new favorite thing is cheeesy potato soup. from a can she eats part of mine.

stella6979 replied: For breakfast we usually have oatmeal, waffles, eggs, or english muffins and always some kind of fruit...mostly strawberries and blueberries.
For lunch, it's usually a salami or ham sandwich, stuffed ravioli, soup, grilled cheese, carrots, cucumbers, crackers, almonds, grapes, oranges, pineapples....
Hmmm...I think I could use some ideas too. biggrin.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: Aiden loves pancakes and oatmeal. I use organic rolled oats...the instant stuff he wont touch. I usually put a sprinkle of brown sugar on it for him. He has one of those with fruit and milk. Sometimes he will also get waffles or french toast sticks with fruit.

Tanner loves cereal. Usually Frosted Mini Wheats, Cheerios, Kix, or Cinnamon Toast Crunch. If the organic stuff is on sale, I'll get that. He also likes pancakes with apple sauce. He dips the pancakes in his applesauce...so does Aiden. He also likes the same thing Aiden likes above, minus the oatmeal. He's not an oatmeal lover.

MommyToAshley replied: For breakfast: Egg sandwiches, oatmeal, bagel with cream cheese, fruit, cereal, pancakes, french toast

Lunch: Ashley eats school lunches. If she packs then she usually likes mac'n cheese with broccoli in it, fruit, yogurt, turkey sandwiches, cheese sticks -- something pretty simple.

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Creamy egss hey? I will have to try that. I have never put butter in my eggs before.

jcc64 replied: Breakfast: Oatmeal, scrambled eggs, apple and peanut butter, or bagel.
Lunch: almost always Korean dumplings (a lot like wontons), or Annie's mac n cheese.
The boys cook for themselves now.

coasterqueen replied: Breakfast: Organic Pancakes w/peanut butter or butter & syrup. Megan also requires cool whip on hers -- anything to get pounds on her. happy.gif If we are out of pancakes they'll accept organic wheat waffles, but aren't thrilled about it. rolleyes.gif Otherwise it's fruit and cheerios. That's about the only cereal Megan can have. They used to eat a lot more cereal before her allergy issues.

Lunch: Kylie either eats at school or packs a lunch of PBJ, organic spaghetti rings, fruit.
Megan is limited w/her allergies so it's either hot dogs, organic spaghetti, organic spaghetti rings, organic chicken fingers, organic shoe string fries, organic PBJ, natural cheetos, lima beans, peas, green beans, corn, and fruit.

lisar replied: Breakfast always depends on my mood:
Good mood:
Blueberry muffins
or
Eggs, and bacon or sausage
or pancakes

Bad mood:
Bowl of cereal

Lunch:
Lexi always gets a sandwich in her lunch box
bag of chips
strawberries or bannana or grapes
Raygen always eats an orange (she loves those things)

Weekend lunches are:
Sandwiches
left overs
hot dogs
frozen pizza

My kids are always snacking on fruit though. ALWAYS. I cant seem to keep enough in the house for them. Right now the fruit draw consist of
Grapes
Oranges
Apples
Bannanas
Cantaloulope
and
Strawberris
and thats only cause I went shopping on Thursday

MoonMama replied: Thanks guys that does give me a few new ideas. thumb.gif

Our usual breakfast stuff is:
Organic oatmeal
Fruit
Yogurt
Eggs
etc.

Lunch:
Organic Mac & cheese (well for Brae anyway)
Salad
Boneless skinless chicken breasts I'll grill or bake
Soup
Yogurt
Fruit
Veggies (often veggie sandwiches)
etc.

Which is fine because Brae and I love fruits and veggies, but change is always good of course.

Calimama replied: Miabella's favorite lunch is a veggie delight sandwich from Subway. rolleyes.gif She also likes salads, fruit salad, chicken salad, crackers with turkey and cucumbers (gross.. I know), wraps, baked potatoes with broccoli and cheese, and brown rice with stir fry.

She rarely eats breakfast (it's a huggggge battle) but she loves cottage cheese with fruit in it. She'll eat that with less of a fight. She likes eggs but only when DH makes them. On days where she's really picky I bribe her with strawberries. She'll eat 5 bites of ANYTHING to get some strawberries. tongue.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: breakfast, cereal, pancakes, waffels, oatmeal, eggs, sausage, cin rolls, begal, cold pizza (not often and only one kind she loves cold) donuts (on occasion), toast really depens on mood and what we have in the house

lunch pb&j, carrotts, ravoli, chicken nuggets, turkey sandwich, ramin noodles, leftovers, mac and cheese, cheese, yougert, apples, oranges, grapes, banannas, fish, tuna, cottage cheese, strawberries....again depends on what we have and what we are in the mood for.

MoonMama replied:
Oh I forgot cottage cheese, Brae LOOOVES cottage cheese.

And crackers w/ pickles and cheese on top. rolleyes.gif Its funny because I craved that when I was pregnant with him. emlaugh.gif He also loves turkey. And like Bella will do just about anything for strawberries, but also for blackberries, cucumbers, tomato's, and apples.

However he doesn't care for breads much really. The only breads he will eat are onion begals, blink.gif and he will eat tortillas (not exactly bread I know) and sometimes pita's so I do make veggie wraps/pita's a lot. And I am able to get organic begals/tortillas/pita's so I love that fact.

I'll have to try baked potatoes with broccoli and cheese because he will eat broccoli anytime its offered.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: During the week:

Breakfast:
-Pancakes (i switch it up with the type of flour that I use, sometimes Cornmeal, 7 grain, 12 grain, buckwheat, adding oats.. etc etc...)
-oatmeal with a little honey, maybe some cinnamon and dried raisins...some pieces of apple..
-plain cheerios, or raisin bran, with milk, sometimes with pieces of banana
-cheese and sausage biscuits.. yuuuuuuum..

Weekends, breakfast could be anything. emlaugh.gif

Lunches:
sandwiches: egg, ham, chicken, cheese and jam, veggies - either on homemade bread, or in wraps. I add cheese, lettuce, sprouts, whatever else I have. smile.gif
I haven't really sent anything heated yet this year, although my 1st grader could bring something heated.

I always include a yogurt, some fruit/apple sauce, an apple or half a banana, some dried raisins, some crackers, a fruit bar.. sometimes some pretzels.

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Ya know...I craved chinese food while I was pregnant with both boys...mainly chicken fried rice, and both of them LOVE it! laugh.gif

Cece00 replied: during the week we are too rushed for me to cook so usually its something quick.

when i have time to cook, they like things like pancakes, muffins (they like blueberry, my fave is blackberry or apple), grits, eggs, biscuits w honey and cinnamon or jelly and they also really like cereal so we do that sometimes. and some fruit or something.

they eat school lunches...on weekends I make stuff like sandwiches (all kinds- meat, PB, grilled cheese, etc), tuna salad or egg salad (eaten on bread or w/ triscuits/crackers), mac & cheese, sometimes I will just cook stuff like I would for dinner if I have the time, so things in the crockpot or whatever- spaghetti, a roast, roasted chicken, BBQ, pork chops, etc. And then they have veggies and fruits and a drink with whatever they eat.

luvmykids replied: On a "good" school morning when we're not rushed, it's pancakes or waffles or eggs and bacon. If we're in a hurry, oatmeal, toast with pb, bananas and honey, or cereal. Weekends I always make a big breakfast with eggs, bacon, hash browns, etc.

Lunches are at school for the twins. Macie and I usually have leftovers, or a yummy salad.

Celestrina replied: Breakfast: 90% of the time he just wants Cheerios (dry, he hates when they get mushy) with fruit or yogurt on the side. His other favorite, especially on a cold day, is oatmeal.

School snack: Apples, grapes, baby carrots, string cheese and whole wheat crackers, and sometimes pretzels or goldfish.

Lunch: Sometimes leftovers, pasta of almost any kind, fruit, if he's really good or for a special treat fluffernutter sandwich (marshmallow spread with peanut butter), soup, veggies.
