This is an activity I'm a part of! I'm a little peturbed b/c the person in charge is really bucking the idea of advertisement. FRUSTRATING!
But it's been fun none the less
Oh and you Dayton Area people....this is a FREE event!!!! *hint**hint*
grapfruit replied: Oh and if you scroll down to last month's movie (Sandlot) you'll see the girl w/her tattoo I applied that tattoo! My friend Katie is the background talking to a kid, I must of been standing off to the right of that little girl
Danalana replied: Mmmmhmmmm, it looks fun to me...something the whole family can enjoy
grapfruit replied: That's kind of the idea!
Next year I think we're going to do Breakfast at Tiffany's and maybe a Hitchcock movie (the Birds I think). and then one for the kids.
Danalana replied: You mean The Birds wouldn't be for the kids?
bawoodsmall replied: looks so fun!!! I wish I could go.
Why does Greeneville sound familiar to me? Is that like somewhere important....
grapfruit replied: We're the birthplace of Annie Oakley! Maybe that's it!
Here's some links: Greenville Ohio
edited to add: and it's where the Treaty of Greenville was signed duh, how can I forget that??
redchief replied: Our recreation department does something similar here on Tuesday nights. The outdoor show is done on the beach and is well attended.
Calimama replied: That's neat!!!
A&A'smommy replied: awesome!!! They are doing that here for one night its called "movie under the stars"
HuskerMom replied: Well it is a pretty good movie!
It looks like alot of fun!
grapfruit replied: Do you know who funds that? Part of our "winter assignment" is to figure out how other communities fund their movie night. B/c it's pretty pricey ($1700 a showing) for JUST the movie. I guess some communities have sponsors that do the entire "series" and maybe do it each year, and partner in advertising it.
I'd love a contact name to call. If you know a name and or number, could you PM me?
lisar replied: My sister lives in a neighborhood that does things like this for just people that live in there and its really fun. They show movies outside like that and have little contest. And there are always goodybags (really nice ones) for the kids and hot dogs and popcorn and all that. Its like $7.00 a person to do it. Well worth it.
lisar replied: Where my sisters is they have a big screen its like one of those blow up jumpy things they rent. And then a projection that they use to put it on there. I know here they dont cost that much to rent.
grapfruit replied: Well there's the cost of the licensing, which is like $200 per showing, and then the cost of the company to come "do" it. It's nice b/c we don't really have to do much. Just help a little. It's a 2 story high inflatable, so pretty big.
