What brand of vitamin does your child take?
coasterqueen wrote: Now that Kylie is not nursing she's seemed to be looking like more skin and bones. My good knowledgeable friend on nursing has told me it's completely normal for them to lose a bit of body fat (per se) when they stop nursing and that it will "level" off. I hope so cuz it freaked me out yesterday when she was stretching and I could see her ribs. I miss those BF fat rolls.
The doc also mentioned that since she is not nursing she should be on a vitamin. He recommended poly-vi-sol.
I was just curious what brand your child is taking?
5littleladies replied: My kids all take Flinstones chewables. Brianna gets a half a tablet everyday-the older kids get a whole one, and I take them too because I have a hard time swallowing pills.
kimberley replied: the boys were on D-visol under 18mos and poly-visol until 3-4yo then we switched to flintstone vitamins lol. my ped told me to put Jade on D-visol but from what i have read, she doesn't really need it. so i don't give it to her because she hates it. maybe when she weans i will try the poly-visol. hth.
kit_kats_mom replied: I just started K on the "my first flintstones". They are made specifically for 2-3 year olds. She loves them now, but it took awhile before she'd eat an entire one.
I bought some tri-vi-sol when she was younger and the doc reccomended it since she was mostly breastfed. K hated it and I tried it and immediatly tossed it out. It tasted horrible. I did some research and found that it was not really necessary so I didn't give her anything.
coasterqueen replied: See Ryan wants to give her the flintstones because he thinks they would be more appealing than the poly-vi-sol. I have no idea. I wonder what the big difference in the two are? I guess I need to look at the back of both bottles and see before making my choice.
DansMom replied: Daniel takes Maxi-Care infant liquid vitamins, which I buy at the health food store. It is raspberry flavored, and he likes it, but I tasted it and thought it was awful.
3_call_me_mama replied: Cameron uses Flinstones, and loves them.
ediep replied: Jason takes poly-v-i-sol liquid. They taste digusting, but he takes it. I have thought of trying the chewable, but I'm sure he wouldn't take it.
MommyToAshley replied: Ashley still eats really well, a good balanced diet of all food groups so I haven't given her vitamins.
I have thought about starting her on chewables, but I keep forgetting to look when I am at the store.
Kaitlin'smom replied: when Kaitlin was younger the doc recomened the vitiaman but i never gave it to her, I was just thinking about this today and what I might start her on.....so thanks for starting the topic. I will probably look into a chewable since she now hates taking meds...ever since I had to give her antibotics.
coasterqueen replied: Yeah if Kylie was eating a well balanced diet I would but some days are just so iffy for her and even though it *may* even out at the end of the week I never seem to be able to keep track. The doc said if she's not eating green vegetables especially to have her put on it. She used to love peas but she won't touch ANY green vegetable anymore.
MommyToAshley replied: I guess I just lucked out that Ashley still eats well. I think her favorite food of all time is broccoli... how crazy is that! I guess a vitamin wouldn't hurt, I really wouldn't know which one to give her... good topic, Karen.
5littleladies replied: My kids love brocolli! Everyone thinks they are crazy-It's nice to know mine aren't the only ones.
kit_kats_mom replied: K's favorite is asparagus....grilled, broiled or boiled.
Yahoooo! <doing silly dance and saying in a sing-song voice> My kid is wierder than your kid, My kid is wierder than your kid!!! ROFLMBO
jdkjd replied: I got Gummi Vitamins for Bailey from Publix. A friend said that her little boy loves them. Haven't given one to her yet though.
I figured on her bad days (food-wise) vitamins would be a good back up.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: My kids take a generic multi vitamin, they like the Walmart brand the best. We tried the "NAME" brand ones, but they never did like them and we ended up throwing out almost a whole bottle of Barbie vitamins. I've never given Claudia vitamins, I bought a bottle of D-Vi-Sol when she was a newborn, but she gaged on it and threw up everytime I gave it to her. DH and I just talked about this and next year we will give her what the older 2 get. Also all 3 of my kids eat everything! The older 2 would sit down with a container of cherry tomatos for a snack and today while waiting for the bus with Emily she had the choice of eating her Wagon Wheel or mini carrots and she opted for the carrots. Claudia loves vergies, especially fresh green beans. I find that she will eat almost everything if there is a character on her plate that she can only see when she is done (I know that's sneaky!) We have Barbie, the Lion King, and a generic cartoon plate as well as a Bunnykins bowl that she loves!
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Jade is on the Flintstones Vitamin for 2-3 year olds as well. I guess they are pretty easy to chew. I had been meaning to put her on because she isn't the greatest eater. She seems to do all right with them.
