What a waste - Sucky New Years Eve

CantWait wrote: Well we went out to dinner, the selection on the menu sucked, the prices for anything good were way to expensive. Then one of the girls wanted to go back to her house before the New Year was even rung in, so we were actually on the road when midnight struck. I was looking forward to somewhat partying it up at midnight with a bunch of people.

So I go back home, the sitter has the house in a mess, the kids are sleeping which is good I guess..........but none of the toys are put away, there's dishes here and there, she opened up a toy for Anthony which I really didn't want opened because there's a bunch of pieces, (the toy is for 4 and up, my mom got it for him for Christmas) then she's like he just threw them everywhere, but did she bother to clean it up......NO!!!!! Now half the pieces are missing. I paid her $70 for what???????? I remember when I babysat, I would get $20 tops, and I would clean up after myself, and after the kids, and even do a little extra. I don't expect that much, but really now.

Robbie was in bed by midnight, even though I said he could stay up...I don't think he voluntarily went to bed, because I know he can stay up way past.

Then I go in the basement, a MESS, like WTF....... growl.gif growl.gif

I had a feeling I should have just stayed home, and I was right. I started cleaning while she waited for her dad to pick her up, I hope she got the hint, but I doubt it.

Thanks for letting me vent mad.gif smile.gif hug.gif

PrairieMom replied: did you agree on $70 on advance? I would have held back some. It is REALLY that expensive for a baby sitter now days? I would have gotten maybe $30, but I always tried to go the extra mile as well. we have never had an out of family babysiter. This makes me want to just stay home! hug.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I think I got $50 when I worked a holiday like New Year's. But I always fed the kids, cleaned the kitchen, bathed the kids and picked up.

amymom replied: Oh wow! I am sorry it sucked!

MamaJAM replied: hug.gif So sorry your night wasn't what you hoped for. And sorry you babysitter was a bit of a flop. hug.gif

mummy2girls replied: Oh no thats horrible! i am so sorry! When i would sit if i left a mess( which i dont) i would get docked. because part of my job was to clean up after myself. Where did you find this sitter?

CantWait replied:
We agreed on $10 an hour, I was gone 7 dry.gif

CantWait replied:
Found her through one of the ladies I went out with, her mom is also one of the wives who's husbands are gone away.

SOUTHERN MOMMY replied: $70.00 is really not a bad price for a GOOD sitter but, for that mess i'll tell you one thing she would have cleaned up BEFORE i paid her growl.gif hug.gif Sorry that it didn't go as planed hug.gif

A&A'smommy replied: UM i would NEVER pay 10dollars an hour for a sitter not for two kids... when I babysat I got paid 5 for 2 kids, I also fed, gave bath and cleaned up after myself and the kids!! Geez I would have been p*ssed too!! dry.gif I'm sorry you didn't have a good time...I went to bed at 9:30 and I tried to drink a glass of wine I could drink half of it blush.gif tongue.gif hug.gif hug.gif

Elza replied: You probably won't use that babysitter again. Ten an hour is expensive for only two kids. At least tell the next babysitter that there are a few rules like cleaning up any messes! I went to bed at 9pm and was woken from a deep sleep at midnight by my husband. I wasn't too happy but the kiss was worth it I guess. He would have woke me up with his silly fog horn and fireworks anyways. The kids actually slept through the noise, amazing!!! You are lucky to have even gone out at all. wavey.gif

mummy2girls replied: i personally dont think 10 an hour is too expensive... because now adays babysitting is not a cheap thing anymore. BUT because she did such a horrible job with the cleaning and such 10 i think is way too expensive. You got to pay good for good care... but then you do sometimes get taken advantage.

mom21kid2dogs replied: Geeze Louise! For $70 I'll watch your kids! Where in the world do you live that babysitter command that kind of fee? Yikes!!! Sorry your New Year's Eve wasn't the greatest.

mummy2girls replied:
well for the agency i work for if i agree to do night babysittign for the parents then i have to charge between 10 to 15 an hour.

SOUTHERN MOMMY replied: If i am right and i think i am It is around $5.00 per kid per hour.To me that is not much for good Quality childcare. But, From what i read the price is really not the issue here if she had done her job right the 70 most likley would not have been a problem. correct me if i am wrong.

CantWait replied: Shelley I see your point. However you're also a registered dayhome agency, not a teen babysitter.

And you're right, the money wasn't the issue, it was the fact that I came home to a complete mess, and the money wasn't well deserved.

coasterqueen replied: Yikes! I agree the price isn't bad but it should include cleaning up after self, ya know. I always did that when I babysat.

I can't believe your friend wanted to go back to her house and for what? Geesh. Sorry it wasn't better than expected sad.gif. hug.gif

CantWait replied:
She had bought a bunch of alcohol and wanted to go back and drink, but by the time we got there, only one girl had a martini and that was it. We just didn't want to drink cause we all wanted to drive home.
