MommyToAshley replied: I put I am dieting with no luck, but I am actually not dieting...just trying to eat healthy and I do BF. But, not losing any weight. I went from 130lbs to over 200 lbs with Ashley. I've gotten down to 150, but can't seem to lose the rest. sad.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: I'm doing really well on WW and BF my 8 mo DD. I'll be happy to share some tips! My mom lost 40+ lbs w/ WW and I have lost 24 so far, 14 more to go till I hit goal. thumb.gif I HATE exercising so it is all about the food for me.

Good luck and let me know if you want any tips. I know about LOTS of low points stuff because I am hungry all the time and i eat all the time, I just make better choices now.

momofajcl replied: Dieting w/no luck here sad.gif I've been concentrating on keeping it healthy and low fat. This week I started not drinking my one Coke a day. I'm drinking only H20, except for my cup or two of morning coffee. We will see if that makes a difference...but I miss my Coke bawling.gif

Forgot to say that I'm still bfing thumb.gif

ediep replied: I am dieting and exercising with veeeeerrrrryyyyyy slow progress. The main problem is that before I became pg, I was a major work out queen!! I ran 5 -7 miles a day at least 3 times a week and the days that I didn't run I went to step class or kickboxing. I was able to stay slim and in awesome shape. When I found out I was pg, my ob said not to run...so I walked everyday. Now, with a 7 month old baby, it is very hard to find the time to exercise. I have been taking jason for walks in his jogging stroller and even trying to jog a bit, its hard but i think its paying off!.

Schnoogly replied: Well I'm putting off going on a diet--I keep meaning to. I was losing pretty well just BFing until about a month ago--lost about 30lbs of pg weight, about 20 to go (plus 50+ from pre-pg).

So although I voted "I've always been fat" I do care. I lost 40lbs before I got PG so I could be healthier and it took a year w/very low cal, low fat and lots of exercise. I used to do yoga 45min every day plus 3 gym workouts a week. Now my principal source of exercise is bouncing Iain on the balance ball to get him to sleep! He is getting better about going outside so I need to start taking him for walks. I love yoga though but I can't do it while holding him and he won't go 45 minutes without my holding him (even while asleep). I have gotten in some 20 minute sessions though, but I can't relax b/c I'm sure he'll start fussing to be picked up at any minute sad.gif

And I'm hungry all the time w/o dieting!! I have been checking into weight watchers but I wanted to do the online one and they don't have a BF program for the online version sad.gif

Did you find that your babe's behavior was different w/less caffeine? Or did he not really react to it at all? I drink 2 cups of coffee in the morning, or one cup plus a coke in the afternoon, and I have wondered whether his irritable behavior was b/c of the caffeine. So I tried cutting it out for a week (O the Headaches!) and it didn't seem to make a difference sad.gif But I read that I shouldn't drink more than 2 caffeinated drinks a day regardless.

Mommy2Levi&Megan replied: Cary,
I will take all the helpful tips I can get...
I weighed in today and lost 4.5 pounds for the week. I realize this is really good but also I will loose more the 1st week due to fluids. But I'm staying soooo hungry even if I do get in my max points.
Thanks
Wendy

Hi Steph! wavey.gif I ususally drink the caffiene free Cokes...that's all I drank thru all my pregnancies and it tastes like the "real" Coke to me now. Every now and again I had a regular Coke if I only had 1 cup of coffee in the AM. I try to limit myself to 2 caff. drinks a day too. I have had more...like a cup of coffee in the afternoon making my daily intake 3 caff. drinks but that is rare and Nicholas didn't have any problems w/the extra caff. I wouldn't want to do it on a regular basis though.

Hi Wendy!
Yay for you! 4.5 lbs is awesome!!! thumb.gif I lost alot the 1st few weeks too and then I averaged about 1 lb a week after that. I could really tell when I didn't journal because there were quite a few weeks where I gained a little (I also started in October so the holidays kinda sabatoged me too LOL). Going to the weigh ins really helped too. The meal plans are great and I lost more on the weeks that I followed them.
You really just have to have the mindset that YOU are important and worth spending the extra time on for awhile. Once you've measured everything and found some good lo-point choices for a while, you will get to where you can eyeball and guess the points a little better so it doesnt take so much work. Here the tips that I can think of:

-drink water, LOTS of it. I carry a water bottle with me everywhere! I also buy cans of sparkling water (I love carbonation) and I drink iced tea pretty frequently.
-Measure yourself now! That way, when you are feeling a little down about the weight loss going slower, you can re-measure and take pride in your accomplishments
-measure everything at first, until you can guage what a cup of pasta looks like or 2 T of mayo
-use veggies as often as possible. Lettuce and tomato on a sandwich really makes it more filling
-check serving sizes on your favorite foods. use them. Some sandwich meat is 4 points for 4 thin slices. I don't even bother with the meat anymore since I like the cheese best. I blow my points on that
-Take your slider with you to the grocery store and find the lowest point options. There are some real differances between brands. Some bread is 3 points per slice I found some Natures Own Lite that is only 1 point for 2 slices! Also, fat free pringles are really yummy and are only 1 point per serving. Most other chips are 2 or more.
-don't buy alot of your favorite high point foods. I can't keep frozen yogurt or ice cream in the house I'll eat it all. If I want it, I have to haul my fat butt out of the house to TCBY or whatever
-If you like chips/pretzles/crackers etc., measure out individual servings of them into ziplock bags, mark the points on each bag, and make a "snack basket" You have somewhere to go for a snack when the need arises and you don't have to bother with figuring the points. I keep granola bars, small micro popcorns, ritz crackers and fat free pringles in mine
-chew gum
-try skim milk. I have gone to soy milk because my DD has problems when I eat alot of dairy but I love cereal.
-Pick the things you won't skimp on. Ex. I LOVE good cheese. Fat free cheese is just lame in my opinion. However, low fat mayo is great and 1/2 the points of regular! Fat free mayo, sour cream, cream cheese and cottage cheese is gross. I'd rather have 1/2 a bagel with real cream cheese.
-go through your cupboards and fridge. mark the point value of every food in your house on the package. It's easier to figure your points when you are making something. You might also find that some of the stuff is really high and decide to just toss it
-Keep low point veggies around for munching. Fruit too.
-Give yourself a free day once a week. We like to eat out and I love trying new recipes so I give myself one day a week where I don't journal and I can have whatever I want. I've found that I've been making better choices even on that day though.
-have dessert. Angel food cake with fresh berries, low fat yogurt and fat free cool whip is yummy! so is fat free jello pudding, jello and fruit
-don't waste your points on sodas or juice. Liquor & beer is also really high in points so watch those and don't forget to count them if you do indulge.
-did I say to try the meal plans?

My usual menu-(I get 32-37 points)
Water/coffee
big multi-grain bagel w/ cream cheese (8)
Granola bar (4)
Healthy choice or lean cuisine dinner (5-8)
Individual sized fruit cocktail (2) or jello (0) or pudding made with skim milk (2)
veggie sticks (0)
fat free italian dressing for dipping (1)
Whatever I cook for dinner (usually around 12 points) I fill up on salad & veggies and we eat alot of grilled fish
low fat Yogurt or popcorn (2)

Hope this helps! Drinking the water and eating lots of low-point foods will really help with your hunger I think!

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions. I'll be happy to help~
Cary
