We were in McDonalds last night... - tornado

ions_momma wrote: Well, we were busy running all over the pace last night, and Ion was hungary so we stopped at McDonalds to eat. We were going through the drive up when DH called and said that there were tornado warnings. I told him that we would be home as soon as we left there, but just as we pulled up to the window, the sirens went off. The lady at the window told us to park the car and get inside, so we did. Then they had everyone go to the freezer!! They were giving everyone coats, and all the babies were crying b/c it was so cold (-3 degrees!) I guess I never realized that that is where they put all of the customers during bad weather! tongue.gif It was definately an experience! Those freezers are soooo cold!! rolling_smile.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: Glad your DH called, and I am glad that the lady called you guys in.

Was there damage from the tornado in town?

TheOaf66 replied: I would think that they would have at least put you in the cooler as opposed to the freezer but oh well, I agree that it was very considerate for them to pull you inside. When you think of fast food places like that, you would think that they could care less and send you on your way.

C&K*s Mommie replied: One more question:

Having never been in a town where they had sirens for tornados, and never actually witnessed one. Does the siren go off when one is merely sighted, or does it have to be of a significant size (F2 or higher) for sirens to go off?

luvbug00 replied: Tell me you stuffed some quarter pounders in your pocket! or nuggets?? tongue.gif

glad your safe!

lisar replied: WOW I dont live where there are tornados unless there is a hurricane above my head but I am glad yall are all okay. That was nice of the employee to get yall inside and keep you safe.

A&A'smommy replied: WOW scary did it go past the mcdonalds? anyway I'm glad ya'll are okay!!

ions_momma replied:
Here they go off when one is merely sighted, not depending on the size.

And I didnt see or hear of any bad damage to the town, just a few wires and trees down.

AlexsPajamaMama replied:
Yup they are!!
I used to work at McDs...and the uniform was short sleeved shirts!

Wierd place to go, but safe!

CantWait replied: Glad you're all safe, that must have been a little bit scary. ohmy.gif

aspenblue1 replied:
in our town when they issue a tornado warning the sirens go off but in city near our if there is a thunderstorm warning and a tornado watch they go off so it depends.

I am glad you are ok.

MomtoPate replied: How scary....I am in Texas, so I know all about tornados and I do not like them!!! We just had an F3 hit about 40 miles from our house a couple of weeks ago....they do so much damage and I am happy to hear that the people at McD's pulled all of you in to keep you safe! Even though it was in a FREEZER! I guess in a time like that, you really don't care where you are, as long as it is a sturdy room! Thank goodness you are all safe and not much damage was done to the city!

holley79 replied: Oh how scary. I bet it was cold in there.

MommyToAshley replied: That must have been so scary. Glad you are ok and there wasn't a lot of damage from the tornado. hug.gif
