We Hit a Deer Tonight

Kirstenmumof3 wrote: bawling.gif We didn't even see if coming! It was over the hood of the car and hit the windshield before we even knew it was even there! We pulled over and I saw the deer in the ditch, but it ran back into the woods. I tried knocking on someones door, but no one was home. We are okay, the kids were not with us, thank God! I'm really shaken up. The windshield on the drivers side is smashed in and the bumper on the passenger side is cracked. I feel awful! We went to the police station, but because it happend outside of the city we have to go to the OPP. So DH has called to report the accident and he has to drive out to the OPP station tomorrow morning. I just can't believe this happened! bawling.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: That stinks. I hit not one but two baby deer a few years ago. They were following their mom across the road and I hit them before I had a chance to do anything.
I am glad you are both okay and that the kids weren't there to witness it.

mom2my2cuties replied: Yikes!! Sometimes I hate those little buggers! With living in the "country" like we do, we have a real problem with that happening.

Glad everyone is ok!

Cece00 replied: OMG! Glad everyone is OK. Was there a lot of damage to the car?

gr33n3y3z replied: I'm so glad you are all ok
Those little stinkers just come from no where
Its that time of year we have to start looking for them

BabyOwen427 replied: Yeah, deer are sometimes hard to see. They blend in with the surroundings so well. I'm not sure why you'd have to report that to anyone but your car insurance company since it walked away. Here in Oklahoma if you hit and kill a deer you can take it to a checkstation and have it tagged, it won't count towards your season bag limit and you can take it home to eat (after you clean it of course tongue.gif )
Well, I can see reporting it to the highway patrol so they can remove it from the road.
I've almost hit them many times, it's scary hug.gif hug.gif glad your safe.

PrairieMom replied: OMG. I am glad that you are all okay! hug.gif

Bee_Kay replied: That is soooo scary!
I've come so close ALOT of times to hitting deer.

Glad you are ok! hug.gif

MyBabeMaddie replied: That is SO scary! I'm really glad that you aren't hurt they can be deadly! The season for deer car accidents is just beginning (well at least thats what they say here) I hope your cars okay!

Kirstenmumof3 replied:
We had to report it otherwise the insurance company won't pay for the damages.
The damage was just to the passenger side bumber, there is a crack in it and the drivers side windshield is smashed right in.

BAC'sMom replied: Oh how scary

Glad you both are ok hug.gif

boyohboyohboy replied: OH Kirsten I cant imagine how scarey that was! I am so glad you are both ok...
