WOW today was a big day for me.. - And a bit sad for some

TANNER'S MOM wrote: Guess what I got today..yes a JOB.. I am now joining the life of the employed again. It's time, I need to work. I feel it in me.. I need to go and do something for me again. To take care of me again and working helps me do that as silly as that sounds. I got a job as a job coordinator for a home health agency..I will be hiring and placing CNA's with elder people who need in home help. I am very excited about this position. It's a chance for me to learn a new field. I will learn different things from medical coding and billing, to medical things. This is a very professional place and I am excited about that.

The down side is .. Tanner cried. He said Momma I want you to stay home and be there when I get out of school. He was so sad. I talked to him and told him that it's hard for Momma to be a stay at home Mom when there are no kids at home. That it was fun for awhile but not for ever. I told him that I know he likes things like nice clothes and toys and that Mom needs to work for herself but also to provide those extras. He said he was made at me. He waited a little bit and he came back over and he said he was sorry for being mad at me and he understood. He asked if it would be like my other job where he could come to work if he needed too. I said no, not at first. But this is a place that where Momma will be treated better and she will be respected not like my other job. He liked that answer. Who knew he would take it so hard.

And the good news for all of us...Guess what we got today.. Yup a new horse. Her name is POGO and she is beautiful. I love her.. She is a registered Paint horse..And very sweet.. She is nine years and the woman who had her..is 8 months pregnant and hasn't rode her in 8 months. I went and rode and she was a little spirited today but she calmed down after a little love and some attention. I got a heck of a deal, they wanted her to go to a good home and to go where she would be rode. I got this beauty for $450.. I think it was an awesome deal.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Congrats on the new job Mel! It sounds like it will be fun and interesting. happy.gif Congrats on the new horse too ~ she's beautiful. thumb.gif

amynicole21 replied: Congratulations! That's great. I used to work for a company that ran the testing for CNAs... funny.

The horse is BEAUTIFUL! wub.gif

Old Mom Hubbard replied: love2.gif I LOVE HORSIES!!! THEY ARE just so amazing to me! POGO is a great name too...I bet she is very "bouncy" in spirit too! And yes, what a Great Price! Now for those vet bills, the shoes and grooming and food...I have never owned one of my own, never could afford one! sad.gif -Maybe one day I think...although my hubby does not like them at all and reminds me that they cost so much and give nothing back (well what does HE know right?) Those who have been around horses KNOW that they just give unconditional love and are very helpful to people in so many ways, and what they do give is priceless!-Oh well...I can dream right? Or better yet, when we have our own property when we finally buy, I can simply bring one home with me, tell him, "Look what I found wondering all alone along the road!" the way I do with the few cats I have done with through the years! biggrin.gif laugh.gif

Well congratualtions on the job! Yes, you should learn a lot. I worked my junior and senior year in high school helping the elderly in their homes, NOTHING requiring nursing as I was not trained but I would help with cleaning and meal preparations and shopping with them or for them.

They LOVED being able to be in their OWN homes, a place they have that is theirs and of comfort, and the little help they they received they were always so happy when it was the day I would be there. smile.gif I preferred cleaning for them than the step-mother of mine as she would nag incessantly and never even say thank you and these older ladies that just wanted a bit of help, they truly were the sweetest bunch. A few grouchy ones I had but they were either hurting from an injury or just lonely as no family nearby or if so, never saw them.

I am sure Tanner will understand if not already. And sounds like from what you say, he IS happy and that you will be treated better than before. Well, enough outta me! GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Like that ocmmercial with the boots... ''they followed me home!''

TANNER'S MOM replied: Well it's true that horses are an expense, but they are worth it. She is one of many on our farm. We have, Ego, Doc, Honey, Crystal, Shorty Smalls, Champ, Buck and now Pogo.. I am a horse person..can you tell. All my horses are broke except Champ.. who is a three year old stud horse..but his day is coming this fall. I love to ride.

They are addicting and if you let one follow you home.. I promise another one will follow shortly.

Old Mom Hubbard replied: Well, WHEN/IF I ever do let one follow me home, wink.gif I will keep that in mind that more will surely follow! laugh.gif I can picture an entire herd of Arabians or Andalusians! Maybe Lusitano and also I LOVE the Peruvian Paso...but I love them all! Well, maybe I will just stick with my dream of one for now... smile.gif

Mommy2BAK replied: CONGRATS on the job Mel! And oh my gosh, POGO is BEAUTIFUL!!! wub.gif

aspenblue1 replied: Congrats on the new job! The horse is beautiful!

TANNER'S MOM replied:
Yes she was a steal..and I have her papers. She is registered and she is a big horse b/c she has alot of QH in her. Horses are cheap right now and this year hay is higher than it's ever been before. Alot of good horses are going cheap right now.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: WOW gorgeous horse! Congrats on the new job Mel...sounds like you're doing the right thing for yourself and the family. And I like how you explained it to Tanner. He may not understand now, but he will get it when he's older and will admire what a cool mom he has doing what she loves.
