Very weird

TeesaŽŠ wrote: Yesterday morning, I woke up to my doorbell ringing. It rang once, and it was still dark outside. I listened for quite some time, but didn't hear anything else, so I thought maybe I dreamed it. I mentioned it to hubby later and put it out of my mind.

Well, this morning I woke up to it again! It was about 5am [not sure about what time yesterday] and I ran all nekkid to the door to peek out. No one there. I ran upstairs to DS's room to get a grander view from his window. Couldn't see a soul. Unfortunately, we finally shoveled the front walkway so I can't even look for footprints.

I suppose it could be that I dreamed it again, but two days in a row?!?!?! Could my body have suddenly developed an internal alarm that goes Ping! out LOUD???? blink.gif

Tomorrow, I'm gonna sprinkle snow all over the stoop to see if I can get footprints. I'm gonna try to get up at 4.30 and I'm gonna sit by the door and WAIT and if anyone shows up, I'm gonna wing open that door wielding a 2 foot butcher knife and my digital camera!!! growl.gif

Oh, I'll be dressed this time... rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif laugh.gif rolling_smile.gif

mom21kid2dogs replied: Ours used to do this and it ended up being a pinched wire between the door and the bell. Darned thing only went off in the middle of the night, though. scary!

Hillbilly Housewife replied: lol... i've woken up to the internal PING!!!! before.............. lol Too funny!!!! emlaugh.gif rolling_smile.gif

sparkys2boys replied: Hmm I would look into it a lil bit more though.. just in case it is some freak .. kwim. hug.gif

TeesaŽŠ replied:
I'm not too worried, not much really happens around here.

At our old place, someone was scratching at the front window around 3am. We had the pull down blinds and I only had one light on that you couldn't see from outside. I peeked out the blinds and some guy was trying to remove the window to get in. I ran for my cell phone and the butcher knife. I had to stand on the coffee table to pull the cord for the light, jump down REALLY fast and yanked the blinds. I held the phone like I was talking on it and looked the guy up and down like I was giving a description, while brandishing the knife. His face went unsure.gif huh.gif ohmy.gif, he backed up, went head over heels over the railing [it was a 3 foot drop] and eventually his head popped up and he ran like heck. I almost peed laughing so hard. I wish I would have had 3 hands so I could have taken his pic to show the police, though.

grandma replied: Man, that would scare the crap out of me. My husband would be standing guard...not ole chicken me!

DillsMommy replied:
wow, you're brave. I probably would've passed out. unsure.gif

sparkys2boys replied:
OMG me to ohmy.gif

TeesaŽŠ replied: I was the only one in the house with 3 children, hubby was on midnights. The guy was still outside so I had the advantage, had he been IN the house, well, I don't know. I'd like to think I'd be able to handle it if I had to.

We had pocket doors at our old place and had he gotten in, I could have run out the pocket door and locked it from the other side. He wouldn't be able to get to the children then. That's my only concern, keeping them safe.

Anyone ever gets into MY house, they better not be counting on getting out again alive!! lol.

Here, I also have the advantage of having my bedroom door right at the top of the stairs. I can stand inside my doorway and not be seen till they get to the top and then I can pop out and shove them right back down the hardwood stairs *laughs evilly*. If they don't break their neck on the way down, well, there's a really big metal filing cabinet right at the bottom that they'll bash into *laughs evilly again*

Hubby's a huge wimp. If I hear a noise in the house and he's home, I'M the one who gets up and checks it out while he stays in bed. blink.gif Guess we all know who wears the pants in THIS family laugh.gif rolling_smile.gif

luvmykids replied: OMG that would scare the crap out of me, I am THE biggest chicken when DH is gone blush.gif

MommyToAshley replied: OMG-- how scary!

On another note -- WELCOME BACK!!!!

It's good to see you around her again. I don't know if you remember me, but I remember you and it's good to have you back. Did you post an update on all that has been going on with you ... if not, you need to. It's been way too long!!!

TeesaŽŠ replied:
blush.gif blush.gif Of COURSE I remember you!! I remember pretty much everyone that was here before, missing a few faces though.

I haven't done an update, but my first post that I did in here explained why I ran off so suddenly.

A lot of chit has hit the fan, didn't want to get into it all and bore everyone right off the bat... figured I'd let the newbies get a chance to get used to me before I said anything... otherwise, everyone'd run off screaming bout the crazy lady in here laugh.gif laugh.gif

hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif I knew it had been a while, but hadn't realized it'd been 4 or 5 years since I'd been here blush.gif blush.gif

Remember the "I HAVE NEWS!!!!.... but I can't tell you yet till hubby comes home" post I'd made? I found it the other day and laughed again till I cried. I realized how much I missed everyone here bawling.gif

JennyB replied: biggrin.gif How spooky. lol. We sometimes watch this show called Paranormal State. After that show, my boyfriend and are scared of every little sound we here. So having that happen, let alone happen twice, would be very creepy lol. He especially gets freaked out. It is so funny. rolling_smile.gif

TeesaŽŠ replied: Well, turned off the lights and started looking out the windows about an hour ago and was standing by the door for the past half hour.

I'm armed with my shoes [boy, but they sound LOUD at 4.30am on hardwood floors!!], my digital and my butcher knife.

ETA:
So far, I've seen 23 transport trucks, 52 cars, 12 trucks, and one person.

I've knocked the knife onto the floor, ran into the couch twice, and lost the camera in the dark... good thing I had it on or I wouldn't have seen the little light dry.gif

There's all sorts of snow out there, it was blowing and covered in the path we made on the sidewalk. If someone IS ringing the bell and they're not totally retarded, they won't try it this morn due to leaving tons of footprints.

ETA:
Put the comforter on the floor to try to absorb SOME of my footsteps. I feel like a stalker INSIDE my house rolling_smile.gif

I have to pee now, but I know if I go, whomever will show up then dry.gif

This is actually kinda fun.... in a boring sort of way... lol

ETA:
Walked into the entertainment unit, took off my shoes, dropped the darn knife again! durned near hit my piggies with it.

Not counting cars anymore, too many and too boring, lol. Watched my neighbours clear off their van, argue, get stuff from the house, argue again, clear off the van some more.... and then I got bored and edited here. lol

ETA:
Put the knife away before I kill myself or chop off limbs with it. Turned off the camera. I don't think anyone's showing up. I'm actually disappointed, I was so psyched up too rolling_smile.gif

Taking one more look and going pee before I piddle on the floor.

ETA:
Playing the new Sudoku game in Pogo. Ran into the vacuum cleaner, tripped over my shoes. Still no people. I'm going to bed.

my2monkeyboys replied: I don't know you, but you are a stone trip!!!!

Hope you figure out what's going on soon! (BTW, have you suspected the neighbors of doing this? Maybe while they clean off their van they get bored and decide to ring your bell! wacko.gif )

emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif

A&A'smommy replied: OMG i would have FREAKED!!!!! ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Anyway I hope it turns out not to be anything

Anthony275 replied: this sounds like the whole story with my tv!

TeesaŽŠ replied:
I doubt it's our neighbours even though we don't get along. They're a herd of elephants over there, but I don't think playing Nicky Nicky Nine Doors is they're style. Plus, our driveways are out back and it's the front doorbell. The doorbell out back does the one in the unit downstairs and I don't think I could hear it 2 floors up, and definitely not while sleeping.

I don't even know for sure if it IS the doorbell, when I woke up both times, all I heard was a short Ping! and the bell is the only thing I can think of that makes even relatively the same noise.

sparkys2boys replied: rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif Well, its good to see that you did not lose any fingers in all that tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

So are we staying up agin to watch??

TeesaŽŠ replied: "We"? omg, but I would LOVE company!! I'm sure we would giggle the whole time rolling_smile.gif

I don't know if I'm going to wake up early again and watch or not... if I do, I'm DEFINITELY moving the vacuum and possibly the chair...

And, out of curiosity, WHY are they called "sneakers" when they do everything BUT sneak?!?!?!?! My shoes are runners, but jeez, they sounded like real wooden Dutch clogs on my floor! lol

grandma replied: your stranger than the noises you heard...lol Love it! emlaugh.gif

sparkys2boys replied:
tongue.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: Lol this story is cracking me up. rolling_smile.gif

Do you have smoke detectors? Ours do this random beep when the batteries need to be changed. It doesn't ping at specific intervals so it really drives me nuts. I'll hear a ping, then nothing for awhile then ping again. It usually takes me a couple of days to figure out where it's coming from, then I have to narrow it down to which one in which room needs batteries. growl.gif

TeesaŽŠ replied: Well, that's one thing I CAN rule out... our smoke detectors don't have batteries. They only time they ever went off was when the last tenants downstairs smoked up and 2 years ago during that head wave.

You should change all the batteries at the same time, that way one isn't accidentally missed and hey... it's so much more fun when they ALL go Ping! at the same time! rolling_smile.gif

Grandma,

Thanks!! I AM very strange! lol. I work really hard at it and I'm very proud!! laugh.gif

Calimama replied: Creepy!!! Maybe your door bell is shorting? At least that's what I'd tell myself so I could sleep during the night. unsure.gif hug.gif
