Vaccum Suggestions? - Buying a new vaccum

lovemyboy wrote: I'm trying to purchase a vaccum and will be buying online. Any suggestions on which ones are the best?? I'm open to all models.

Thanks!

ammommy replied: I love my Dyson! Since we bought it our allergy sniffles are nearly non-existant! Seriously, I'm amazed at what it sucks up each week and was really surprised what it sucked up right after I vaccummed with my old cleaner. Well worth the $$.

mckayleesmom replied: I don't know...Im having the same problem...I need a new one too. I really want that one on that commercial...the yellow one....NO CLOGS EVER.....I forgot the name of it, but my vaccume always gets clogged...drives me nutty.

coasterqueen replied: Roomba! I LOVE ours and I didn't even want the darn thing, DH did. tongue.gif

mammag replied: If I were to buy another one today I'd go with the Dyson. I think the clogging is really the biggest issue with vacuums.

I had someone come and demonstrate a Kirby and they vacuumed with my little ole dirt devil first and acted like they'd get up a whole bunch more with the Kirby afterwards....not so. And it was several years old and parts were falling off. tongue.gif

boocoomomma replied: I used to have a Phantom Thunder and LOVED it. But, the ex threw a fit to keep it since we bought it w/ "his" money. Would buy another one in a heartbeat and probably will when mine gives out. Can't fuss, 'cause it was given to me. jmo

lovemyboy replied: I am going to look for a Dyson. Thanks guys!

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I know you said your going with Dyson.....It is the best ever. I have a 1 yo Kirby that is sitting in the garage gathering dust and a new Dyson that is far superior

jcc64 replied: My granny bought me an Electrolux when we got married in 1990.
It outlasted her and several other family members. A nice machine, but then again, I have nothing to compare it to, it's the only vacuum I've ever owned.

ammommy replied:
That's the Dyson!

My2Beauties replied: I have one of those Dirt Devil Hepa FIlter bagless vaccuum cleaners, I bought it at Sear's! I love it, it picks up everything!

DVFlyer replied: How funny, I just posted an answer to this same question on another totally unrelated forum.

I have a totally unsupported theory about the Dyson. We went from a $59 Target vacuum to a $250 Costco bought Hoover Windtunnel yadda yadda something or other. The difference was HUGE. Every comment I've seen applied to the Dyson (picks up pet hair, more dirt, etc) is exactly the same as what we've seen with the Hoover that we bought.

My theory is that due to the marketing, people are upgrading their old worn out vacuums with Dysons. Obviously, the new vacuum is going to be much better than their old one.

I would like to see a comparison between the Dyson and Hoover's etc.

ammommy replied: The vaccuum that I sent to an early grave was a one year old hoover something or other. In 5 years, we went through 3 vaccuums, each around $150-$200. My ped recommended the Dyson or Oreck for allergies and a friend had just bought a Dyson. I borrowed hers once a week for about a month as a trial and fell in love. I'm usually weary of "gotta have it" marketing gimicks because I did that stuff for a living for a couple of years. However, i'm a believer. I know what you mean, though. Check back with me in a year to see if I still love it wink.gif

3boys4me replied: I have an Oreck. I LOVE it. Very light and easy to push. I don't like heavy vacuums. This thing picks up everything.
