Update on Mattie..not doing so good... - Nurse vent included

Okay,heres the update.
Mattie was responding well to the IV antibiotic he was on and the Paediatrician was also speaking of discharging him from hospital today,Sunday.But this morning we went to see him and he wasnt looking good!

Today he's having high fevers,he has some rash on his back,his tummy is running and his being beltching whole day like he wants to throw up. His paediatrician changed his IV antibiotic and put him on a different type.They are gonna run another test on him to see what could be causing this when he is supposed to be getting better!!

Ok Im sorry but I have to vent about 2 new nurses!!! Around lunch time I popped in to check on Mattie while my mum had a break...I get there and Mattie is laying off the pillows in an awkward and uncomfortable position!!! Like he can turn himself!!!!! Then I turn him over and he had made a poo and the nurses hadnt even bothered to have a look and to clean him!!!!! He was moaning for them and nothing!!!! Then I saw that he hadnt been bathed properly..his gastrostomy tube was all grimy..I so cleaned it.Then this one nurse asks me when he supposed to eat!!Hello...they know that he has to eat every 3 hrs!! They had left him for over 4 hrs with no food!!! I noticed he was running a fever and the nurse didnt even bother to give him something to control it!!!! I had to ask them to! Mattie's paediatrician comes today and asks the nurse how was Mattie's day...and her response..."He had a good day!!!" Like hell he did!! Mattie was feeling sick again,not smiling,high fevers....and he had a good day!!! I couldnt keep wuiet so I told the paediatrician that NO..He didnt have a good day at all!!!How could she give the paed tha impression that all is ok!!!

My mum was also sooo mad when I told her!!! She spoke to these nurses so they had better catch a wake up!!!

Im so sorry but I had to get that out!!!!!!

Mattie still needs your prayers...I will let you know what the tests say.

Most of the nurses there are really good...but we've got a huge problem with the new nurses that come in and dont even bother to do their jobs properly.

Most of the nurses know Mattie and they are really good with him...but then you get some who are soooo negligent and lazy!!!!!!

I am sorry that some of the nurses aren't treating sweet Mattie properly and that one mislead the Ped. I just don't understand why people like that are in the medical feild.

I hope the new meds work. I'll continue to keep him in my prayers. Please keep us posted on how he is doing.

It makes me so mad to think of your beautiful little brother being treated in that way I hope he starts getting the treatment he deserves. Like I've said before, he's lucky to have such an amazing family around him to help him at the time. he's in my thoughts and prayers as always (as are you and the rest of your family) xx

I had a problem with nurses when Michael was in
the hospital... I just decided I was going to stay
by his side until he got through the whole ordeal
it became really obvious that no one was going
to tend to him like I do.

mammag replied: Oh Lollie, I'm so sorry he's not doing better! That would have made me so furious about the nurses. People shouldn't go into that line of work if they aren't going to be caring to the patients. I'm glad he has you!

mummy2girls replied: AWWW poor mattie! I will for sure pray for him... as for the nurses i have had bad experiences with nurses. ALOT are good but then you get those obnes that are just in it for the money and thats it!

They are paid to take care of their patients... so to leave that little boy laying in doodle and not feeding him and ESPECIALLY not controlling a high fever, holy hell... I'd work my rump off to get them fired.

I'm sorry if you said before but what kind of symptoms does he have?

Hi..to answer your question about Mattie's symptoms,here they are.We always know when he has pneumonia cos he has had it before and we take him for chest x-rays.

The pneuomina is in both of his lungs but mainly at the botom of his right lung.He has high temperatures, he doesnt want to do anything..not even smile,he's breathing becomes fast,his skin becomes a bit pale and he becomes very chesty with lots of mucous.

Please fel free to aks me anything that you would like to know...its no problem at all.

I have a question but, I am not sure how to word it.... Does he have a life long illness? Or how old is he? You were saying that he couldn't turn himself and that he had soiled himself. That is why I was asking. I do not want to hurt you by asking these questions. So if I am please disregaurd. No harm is ment.

Again, I hope that he starts feeling better and that the new meds can help him out.

No offence taken.He is 4 yrs old and he has Cerebral Palsy caused by negligence by the gyneacologist during his birth.

When he was born,the doctors told us that he would be like a vegetable and to just send him to a home and move on.Well,he has surpirsed everyone! He is very determined and even tho theres alot he cant do...theres more he can do!!! He is just such a happy little guy and he touches everyones hearts that meet him!! He has the most gorgeous smile!!!!
