Same here. It sickens me to think about what a lot of kids in this world go through. I wish I could take them all in and just love them to pieces.

Kids make things up all the time to avoid getting in trouble. Unless these boys are incredibly precocious, I'm kind of shocked that they could even pull something like that off, though I guess anything's possible.
It's hard to know what really happened, based strictly on the information in the story. The one thing I'm sure of, though, is that no 8 or 9 year old child should be tried as an adult. They are NOT ADULTS. Why make the legal distinction, and then not observe it? An 8 or 9 yr old is not capable of comprehending the enormity of a rape charge. I'm sure they know on some level it's "wrong", but not in the legal sense of the word can they understand the charges against them. There's gotta be another way to hold the child accountable while simultaneously acknowledging that he is still, in fact, a child.

I agree with this 100%. Regardless of the real truth (and I agree, it's a sticky situation as to whether the girl is telling the truth), there is NO WAY those boys should be tried as adults.

I too was surprised that boys that age are capable of such activities so to speak - I guess puberty really is hitting a lot earlier these days.

You evidently don't understand what rape is. Obviously I think this little girl is fibbing a bit, we'll see how the story unfolds, but in the case of real rape, usually brute force along with weapons are used, or the guy usually beats the crap outta the girl to the point where she is to weak to defend herself. MOst boys are stronger than girls and if these little boys were bigger than her, well....there you go. It isn't that easy!
