This HAS to get better
coasterqueen wrote: Poor Megan. I am so sleep deprived. She can't seem to sleep without waking up crying and coughing because her throat hurts so bad. Now all of a sudden today she can't even lay her head down to even try to sleep because her ears hurt so bad. I know many people on here said after a couple of days their kiddos were doing fine after adenoid surgery, but I've yet to see it with Megan. She seems to be getting worse The surgeon nurse called this morning to check up on her and said she's NEVER heard of a kid talking nasal-y after having adenoid surgery. Oh great, does that mean she's going to be talking funny forever? I'm sure not. It just would have made me feel better if she could have said she at least heard it once in all her years there.
I can't get her to eat or drink either. I swear she's going to get dehydrated. I've tried every food/drink under the sun to get her to drink. She's drinking a little, but not enough
I REALLY hope she improves by tomorrow because I have to go back to work on Wednesday
Our Lil' Family replied: Wow, Karen. I'm so sorry. Thomas didn't have one problem, other than bad breath. Can you go in for a follow up today or is that scheduled for tomorrow already?
lovemy2 replied: Did you call her Ped? I would think yes that after 3 days she should sorta be on the upswing and I would worry to if she wasn't drinking alot - and if her ears hurt - could she now have an ear infection...I'm sorry Karen - it has to be so hard to see your little ones in pain
luvmykids replied: I'm sorry this has been so hard on both of you Was the nurse going to pass it on to the dr?
coasterqueen replied: I talked to the surgeon nurse and to our PED and they both said the 4th and 5th day after surgery kids usually have more pain than they did before. That it's normal at this time for her ears to be hurting. So she's "textbook" as far as her symptoms go. They told me to keep trying to push liquids, so that's what I'll keep doing.
Yeah - and the bad breath thing is EWWWW.
Kaitlin'smom replied: awww poor thing. I hope she feels better soon.
mummy2girls replied: oh karen((((HUGS))) first of all (((HUGS)))) second of all i know exactly what youa re dealing with. Jenna took 10 days to recover. The first day after the surgery she was eating popscilcles and freezies and wanting hamburgers. She woke up at 12am and she was screaming in pain. For 24 hors i could not get her to drink anything, she barly peed and then she started to vomit, then the severe stomach cramps happened and sore ears. So we rushed her to the peds emergency room and they gave her some codiene. That stopped the pain and got her eating some. but once teh codiene wore off we were back to the same as before. This went onf or a few days. And nsaaly i remeber jenna was like that. It took her a while to get used to talkign without adenoids and tonisils. It did get better but she didnt really get back to normal until 10 days later. This is why im not looking forward to her next surgery! iT WILL GET BETTER KAREN. IT MAY NOT SEEM LIKE IT BECAUSE WITH EVERY STEP FORWARD SHE FALLS BACK 2. sorry caps was on... she will bounce back.
ediep replied: awwwwww, poor baby!!~!! ((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))

mckayleesmom replied: Karen...Last summer I was there when my nephew Timmy got his out...He sounded nasaly and it took us about a week to get him to eat or drink anything. He was so afraid to because it hurt.
We did lots of popsicles and pudding....and it still took a good while to get him to take it. We had trouble even getting him to take the medicine. He also ran a fever for a couple days.
lovemy2 replied: Well that is good to know that she is at least textbook in her recovery but still can't be easy - hang in there Karen -
coasterqueen replied: Thanks again, everyone. So far she's doing a bit better this morning. We had a rough night, but are hanging in there. We are going to attempt to plant flowers and the garden today to get her in a more cheerful mood. We'll see if that works or what.
