Thinking about all of the Florida parents...... - I hope everyone stays safe.....

MomToJade&Jordan wrote: I hope everyone has started to get supplies and such to get ready for not one, but two tropical systems. Of course a possible cat. 2 hurricane is going to hit around my parents area of the state a week before they are going to fly out here to Hawaii. I keep hoping that it will make the turn it's supposed to take early and head out to sea before making a landfall in Florida. We don't have The Weather Channel out here so I have to rely on the internet. We need to keep an eye on things out here as well. It's just one of those things we have to put up with when we live in paradise. I just wanted to let you all know that I'm thinking about you. Please stay safe in the next couple of days.

jdkjd replied: We're ready here! I love hurricanes. No work, crazy wind. It's fun. (at least for me!)

MommyToAshley replied: Stay safe everyone! I hope the storms take a turn and go back out to sea!

amynicole21 replied: We're in the middle of the state, so we RARELY get more than rain and some wind. We've got plenty of bottled water, though. I'll probably still be at work when the hurricanes hit rolleyes.gif

kimberley replied: yikes, that is scary. prayers for safety to all those who are affected. grouphug.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: Yep. I hit walmart today for bottled water, food that doesn't have to be cooked, lanterns and batteries. We are all set. However, if it gets to be a catagory 2 & it looks like it may hit the tampa area, we will high-tail it to Tallahassee (my moms) or Nashville (my uncles) if Tallahassee gets hit hard. I don't mind the catagory 1's but 2 is pushing it. :-)

momof2girls replied: Thanks!! We are all ready too!
No fun for sure!

MomToJade&Jordan replied: I'm glad that everyone is getting ready. Hurricane Charley might infact postpone my parents trip to Hawaii. My father works for the phone company so if the damage is bad enough he is going to have to stay and help. I am really bummed guys.

Kirstenmumof3 replied: grouphug.gif How scary! I hope you all stay safe!

lsjulee replied: ohmy.gif ohmy.gif Please take care! I pray for the nasty wind to make U-turn too. LOL!

jdkjd replied: Man, is it raining out there!! I would enjoy this more if Bailey wasn't so freaked out by rain.

coasterqueen replied: Hope you all stay safe!!! P&pt's coming your way. thumb.gif

Boys r us replied: Hope everyone is safe and stays that way! We are supposed to get winds and flooding from it today, which is enough for me!

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
Poor Bailey. I can imagine how much rain you are getting. It looks like the storm is on it's way out now. Next up Charley. I am keeping you all in my thoughts.

Kaitlin'smom replied: Hope you all stay safe. I has to postpone making my trip plans to Tampa area in Oct to see hwere and how bad the storm hits. I am goin gto go see the reports now

momof2girls replied: Im actually really scared, we are being safe and boarded our windows and we have never had to do that...
So keep all us Floridians in your thoughts!

kit_kats_mom replied: I had a really bad feeling about this storm late this afternoon. Especially after they evacuated 800,000+ people from Tampa & the pineallas County. DH and I went to home depot and got some plywood to board up our windows. We have batteries and lanterns, a grill with a full tank of gas, both cars have full tanks & we have plenty of water. It appears that none of our neighbors have ever been in a bad hurricane. None of them have done anything yet. Heck, I've only been in 2 category 1's myself but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I'm in the process of cooking up all of the frozen food and boxed stuff we have. So far I've made 4 batches of muffins, about 2 dozen sandwiches etc. I also did all of our laundry today and we will be taking the computers down tomorrow afternoon & wrapping them in plastic just in case we lose our roof or something. We are also packing away all important documents (including baby books) in waterproof containers.

I'm nervous about the storm itself but we are about 30 miles inland so we most likely won't bear the brunt of it. I'm most worried about the aftermath though. It can sometimes be quite awhile before power comes back...like 4 - 5 days. That's when things like going to the bathroom and eating get to be real tests of your creativity.

I'm hoping that K will be able to survive that long without a Wiggles video fix. This could be a couple of very trying days. Please send "happy good-coping toddler" vibes our way.

amynicole21 replied: I wasn't really concerned about the storm until today. Sophia's daycare is closed, so I have to stay home from work tomorrow - not that I mind! We're really far from the coast, but could still get tornados and heavy rains/winds... yikes! Keeping you guys over near Tampa in my thoughts... be safe!!

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
~~~~~HAPPY GOOD COPING TODDLER VIBES~~~~~ To think Cary if you were still in Tally you would have gotten the tropical storm. I hate hurricane season. I am glad that you have got stuff to board up your house. I have all sorts of people to send P&PTS to tonight. Half of my family is in the Naples area. I hope my grandparents weren't stubborn and got out of the mobile home. This is really hard to do, just sit here and try not to worry. I am not even there, but I know there will be very little sleep for me tonight. I hope this fills Florida tropical weather quota for the year. Please stay safe everyone!!!!!!!!!
Josie83 replied: Oh my goodness, that sounds so scary! I hope that everything's okay and you're safe . . . the worst we have over here is thunder and lightning! Stay safe, thinking of you xx
