They lost our rent check

mckayleesmom wrote: We don't have checks...We usually use our debit card for everything. Leithan usually pulls the money out at the bank and gets a cashiers check for the rent and mails it off. Two days ago the landlord called him at work and said they were going over their books and ours and a couple other peoples rents were still not paid. Leithan goes to the bank and it hasn't been cashed. He goes to the post office and they don't have it either. He sent it on the 1st. The bank put a stop on it and it will take 30 days for them to reissue a check.

1. They better not charge us a late fee

2. They better not expect us to pull another months worth of rent out of our rears in the meantime

Why would a "proffessional" realty company wait till almost a whole month to tell us that they never got our rent check? If they would have called us sooner this could have been taken care of sooner. That seems very unprofessional to me.

It sounds like they misplaced some checks since it seems to not just be us.

A&A'smommy replied: UM yeah I would be ticked!!!!

DillsMommy replied: I've had that happen before--very frustrating! mad.gif

lovemy2 replied: Most companies don't reconcile their books until the month is over - doesn't make much sense to reconcile during the month KWIM? That is probably why it took so long - I would imagine though since you weren't the only ones they should be ok with waiting - I hope so -

luvbug00 replied: mad.gif how annoying

Mommy2BAK replied: arrg! mad.gif

mckayleesmom replied:
But most at least make a note that they got it.....Ive never had a company not inform me till my next rent was almost due.

Calimama replied: Yuck!! mad.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: I agree they should have sent you a notice 10 days late or even 15 days late
Oh well I hope they figure out a better system

Celestrina replied: Have they at least admitted it was their fault, considering how many others were showing as unpaid? Probably too much to expect.

TrulyBlessed replied: How frustrating!! I hope they get it figured out soon. dry.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: seems to be happing alot, I have a check currenty MIA and it was mailed on the 3rd...............heck I still have a package that was never delivered. sad.gif

sparkys2boys replied: We look after apartment buildings and this is not uncomon for us to not mention a late rent until almost when the next one is due. We do this as a courtsey to our tentants, we allow them to be late(people do get into money issues) but when they next one is almost due we talk to them. We don't want to get to far behind where tentants aren't in the postion to get caught back up. Maybe this is what they did??

My3LilMonkeys replied: That stinks!! I know when I worked in a property office we had commercial and residential tenants and we started making our calls on the 6th of the month if rents were not received.

mckayleesmom replied:
That was nice of that company, but most at least inform you by the 6 or 7th of the month...

If they had informed us earlier...then we could have cancelled the check earlier...
