The post office... - I am so frustrated
maestra wrote: I am so frustrated with the post office! I sold some versatiles (they are an educational game) on ebay, and sent them through the mail. Of course, I sent dh to mail them (he doesn't always think) and he sent them in a bubble wrap large envelope. They all fit in, and he used the seal on the envelope to close them. Even though I would have sent them in a small box, he claims he couldn't find one there, and that they fit well in the envelope. Plus, those envelopes have really strong glue, so I didn't think anything of it.
Well, they buyer contacts me today, and says that only half of them arrived, and one arrived broken in half and missing pieces. The envelope was open and retaped, with a stamp that said "received unsealed". So now I have to refund a bunch of her money. I can't believe how trashed it was. The post office where my husband took the envelope is a small town post office- they make sure that everything is sealed and good before they take it, because they know you. So I know it was sealed.
So I'm not sure who to be pissed off at more- dh or the post office...oh maybe both!!!!
Thanks for reading.
Anthony275 replied: the post office should've checked it before it was mailed out
maestra replied: Dh said they did and it was fine.
Calimama replied: Frustrating! I'm sorry.
luvmykids replied: Do you think the buyer is exaggerating just to get some money back? Sorry, that stinks no matter what
maestra replied: I did think that was possible....I think I will ask to see if she can send me pictures. She has a good feedback rating (100%), so I trusted what she said.
luvmykids replied: Feedback says a lot, and I know the post office can screw up. I hope you don't have to refund too much
Hillbilly Housewife replied: That's sooo crappy. Sorry to hear that.
Happened with something I bought. The seller received HER stock all banged up and so my order had to be delayed a few weeks... then when I finally got it... the package was pretty banged up... but the product was fine.
kimberley replied: i agree with Monica. i have had MANY problems with the post office. especially near the holidays, they hire students and temps. sorry that happened.
gr33n3y3z replied: Which place do you blame? You do know it goes through so many towns and cities before it hits the last post office. Who is to say the buyer isnt lying to you Its Tis the season
maestra replied: I know- I've thought of that too. I did email her and ask her to send me pics, but I haven't refunded any of her money-yet.
I don't know which place I blame- those envelopes are pretty strong, and the glue on them is usually really sticky. I know I've fought with a few of them to get them open. I'm sure that it got stuck in one of their machines somewhere. Because even if they got the package opened things falling out doesn't cause them to break in half. The buyer said that one of the sets had a lit which was broken in half. The cases are made of pretty durable plastic. I could see it if she said that the lid was broken off, but not broken in half. That spells machine damage to me.
A&A'smommy replied: OH NO I would be ticked too!!!!
