The nausea is getting worse! Any tips PLEASE?

coasterqueen wrote: I feel like I'm complaining, but I am very happy to be pg. The nausea just seems to get worse each day. It's so bad today that the only thing I want to do is curl up in a ball and go to sleep. I can't do that if I have to work. sad.gif I can't even concentrate on my work. I'm just so sick. I'm not throwing up but I'm sooooo almost there.

I've been drinking sprite or 7-up off and on and chomping on crackers here and there thinking maybe if I keep my stomach full it will be better but it's not happening.

I didn't have this with Kylie sad.gif. Anyone have any tips???

MommyToAshley replied: I had m/s really bad with Ashley. Eating a little here and there throughout the day, and not letting my tummy get empty, did help me. Everyone suggested sprite or 7Up to me, but that upset my tummy more so I just stuck with water. I stuck with eating bland stuff, and that seemed to help. One day I craved Mexican and DH took me out to lunch, and boy did I regret that! puke.gif

Also, taking my prenatals in the morning instead of at night helped me too, but if you are sick during the morning, you might try taking them at night and see if that helps.

It was horrible for me the first 12 weeks, but it completely went away the second and third trimester.

Hope you are feeling better. grouphug.gif

ediep replied: taking my prenatals with a meal helped, but since you have been taking them all along while BF, i'm not sure that will make a difference. My M/S went away when I was 10 weeks pg.

Try saltines and more saltines.

Hope it eases up soon.

coasterqueen replied: Thanks for your suggestions. Maybe the sprite is making it worse..course water is making me nauseous too. sad.gif

Someone suggested adding more protein to my diet like adding peanut butter to the crackers and see if that helps so I might try that too. I'm eating OFTEN (which sucks for the waistline, lol) and that's not helping.

The nausea comes and goes all day long. I have it just as bad at night as I do in the morning. Last night I got so sick to my stomach I went to bed and just held my stomach and cried. I was miserable sad.gif. UGH!

I'm counting the days til this goes away. LOL. I guess I should be thankful I'm not throwing up and that I didn't have this with Kylie, huh? wink.gif

A&A'smommy replied: I just wanted to add my sympothies! I feel bad for you having that horrible m/s hopefully it will get better and not worse! (((HUGS)))

kit_kats_mom replied: Aw hon. I just wanted to commiserate. I just got over mine a couple of weeks ago. It is an awful feeling. I'm sorry you are having it too. sad.gif

I have heard of preggie or preggo pops. They are supposed to help m/s but I never tried. I think you can get them online. Also maybe the motion sickness bands? I've heard they help some people.

A couple of things that did help me a little bit:
1. a big cup of hot spearmint tea
2. chewing a piece of candied ginger. You can get it in the spice section of most store. I've heard ginger anything can be good for nausea.
3. chewing gum....constantly.
4. carbonated (but not flavored) water. We have a brand of carbonated water here called LaCroix. It has a bit of an aroma (lemon, raspberry or lime) but not taste. It tastes just like bubbly water. that helped my belly sometimes.
5. last but not least....my least favorite...making myself puke. It was awful but I usually felt better for awhile afterwards.

The more protien is a good idea as is steering clear of fried foods.

finally, I've gained 16 lbs so far ohmy.gif and I contribute a lot of that to my whacky cravings and the eating to keep my m/s at bay. Beat that, lady! LOL Anyway, you need to gain weight. Try not to worry about it. We lost it before, we can do it again right? rolleyes.gif
HUGS!!

maliksmommy replied: Sorry you aren't feeling good. One thing that helped me was ice cream. Nothing crazy just a shake from Wendy's or something. I know it sounds crazy but it was the only thing that worked.

Jamison'smama replied: This is a short excerpt from an email I received about the benefits of bananas---if it is true---they are nature's miracle food (well--other than breastmilk)

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Well, breastmilk seems to cure everything else--you can give it a try for this too smile.gif

jcc64 replied: Ice pops and italian ices worked for me. Anything cold I guess.

Ginger ale- it's not the soda part- it's just a palatable way to get the ginger, which is a known stomach soother for centuries.
Ditto for anything with mint. Mint tea worked for me.

Everything Cary said. My 2nd pg was worse too. Probably the fact that you're chasing a toddler around...

Sorry, K- it will pass, not soon enough, though, right??

MomToMany replied: grouphug.gif Awww, hugs to you, Karen! So sorry you are feeling that way! I agree with the ginger ideas; it's supposed to be a real good stomach soother. I hope it passes real soon for ya!!

Lollie replied: Awww.you sound like me when I had morning sickness during my first weeks of pregnany!!It was horrible!I therew up all the time and just felt like doing absolutely nothing but stay bent over the toilet!! unsure.gif Im glad that my morning sickness has finally eased up a bit.

What I used to have was plenty of crackers and suck on ice-cubes!!I would take them first thing in the mornings before Id even get out of bed!!That helped alot!!!It was funny cos every morning there was my tray with my crackers and ice-cubes on with the compliments of my hubby! wub.gif

Dont worry, soon you'll be enjoying your pregnancy more without m/s and nausea!! thumb.gif

~HUGS~

Jamison'smama replied: Oh, a friend of mine--suffering through temendous morning sickness while trying to teach 3rd graders is sucking on a LOT of peppermint candy! Says it is helping.

maestra replied: None of that stuff helped me, so I finally asked the dr what to do and they gave me a prescription. Right now I take zofran, which works for 8 hours and starts working in 10 minutes. If nothing else helps, don't be afraid to ask for help! grouphug.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: Keep crackers with you at all times! I'm sorry you are so sick, I hope this passes soon! grouphug.gif

mama3x replied: Karen, I totally know what you are going through. This is my 3rd time through the SAME darn thing!!!!! Nothing has really been helpful for me because like yours, my nausea comes and goes whenever it decides to and lasts as long as it wants to.

Temporary fixes (temporary meaning anywhere from 1 minute of relief up to 30 minutes) for me have been:

STRONG mints (Skittles mints are good, there's variety and it requires chewing)
Spearmint gum
SOUR candy (chewy Sweet Tarts are great)
Ginger Ale (sprite/7up/coke made me more ill but this went ok)
Bananas
Peanut butter

I hope that knowing I am right there with you helps a bit. I can't be employed while pg, the nausea hits strong even though there's no vomiting so I give you credit. With an active verbal cranky pants 14-month-old, I am lucky to be alive at noon of every day.

However I am at 15 wks this week and the nausea is no longer 95% of the day. Now it's maybe 60% but never on a schedule of course. So maybe there's hope for us yet. grouphug.gif to you!

mummy2girls replied: AWWW I am so sorry this is happeneing to you. I know what you are going through ...I just hope it doesnt last as long as it did for me... For me it lasted 5 months. UGH!!!!

It seems everyone gave you good ideas as i dont really have any new ones ....Prenatals did give me alot of grief so i drank mine with milk. Milk for some reason soothed my tummy.

5littleladies replied: It looks like you have gotten lots of great suggestions so I only have one more. My ob suggested I take vitamin b6 when I was pregnant with Brianna to help with my nausea. It didn't really seem to help me much but maybe it would work for you and it couldn't hurt. Anyways here's some ((((Hugs)))) and I hope it passes soon! grouphug.gif

coasterqueen replied: Thanks again everyone. I bought some Sea Bands and I *think* they are doing the trick. I've only tried them last night and they helped. I put them on this morning but not before the nausea set in so I'm hoping they are going to help real quickly.

BTW, I've heard of that B6 vitamin too so I think I might try that when I go grocery shopping this weekend!

jem0622 replied: Glad you got the Sea Bands. I was going to recommend them. My gf swore by them for all of her pregnancies. Do eat small/frequent meals b/c your blood sugar could drop causing you to feel yucky.
