State of the Union address

coasterqueen wrote: SO, anyone going to be tuning into the State of the Union address tonight? If so, what are you hoping to hear?

DVFlyer replied:
Hope and Change... what else. emlaugh.gif

(I'm not really that political.... it was just an easy joke to make. smile.gif ).

Our Lil' Family replied: No, I don't think I will be. I don't want to hear more empty promises.....I'll be flipping through the DVR tonight!

luvbug00 replied: We are watching michael jacksons, this is it!
I'd only tune in if he stepped down from office. it's the only thing worth hearing from him.

boyohboyohboy replied: we wont be either, I am sure we will get the snippets from the news in the morning!
He isnt going to be deciding anything tonight on his own that will change the world...

msoulz replied: Only if it is on Nickelodeon or the Disney channel!

mom21kid2dogs replied: Naw. I'm gonna beat my kid at Wii Play! (In my dreams!!) biggrin.gif

PrairieMom replied: yup. I will be.

A&A'smommy replied: nah I watched wizards of waverly place tongue.gif

Danalana replied: I honestly didn't know it was on, but I noticed a lot of not-so-impressed people talking about it on Facebook.

jcc64 replied: I watched it. I thought he made a lot of good points, though I'm sure the people to whom they were directed will dismiss them as bs. I believe the biggest mistake Obama has made thus far was believing bipartisanship was obtainable. It's not and never will be, and he's wasted a TON of valuable time. He's tested the limits of the populace's patience (which never lasts long to begin with) trying to appease congressional Republicans who want absolutely nothing to do with him or anything he believes in. He should grow a set of you-know-what and do what the voters elected him to do, in the same vein as Bush/Cheney, who had an agenda and followed it, whether it polled well or not. In trying to build consensus and satisfy everyone, he's satisfied no one.

coasterqueen replied: Jeanne, I will try to dismiss your comments on Obama trying to get bipartisanship and Repubs won't give it. Hun, seriously? Ok. I'm done before my blood boils. tongue.gif You already know my stance.

mom21kid2dogs replied:
I'm right there with ya! Bipartisanship emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif emlaugh.gif
It's enough to make a girl an independent . . . .oh,wait . . . .I already am!! rolleyes.gif

Danalana replied: I'm Republican, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't support Obama if he stood for things I believed in. My being Republican doesn't dictate everything or prevent me from trying to be fair. As soon as he starts doing the things he said he was going to do, I'll change my opinion. Simple as that. No partisan agenda here, though the Republican party does tend to support the things that are important to me (as far as values go). From what I'm hearing (from democrats--yes, we have democrats in Alabama!), he just isn't doing what he promised.
And as far as bipartisanship goes, you're right. I think the other side will always complain and object just because they can. I think when any president proposes something, the opposing party immediately opposes it and then retreats to come up with reasons to oppose it laugh.gif
