Soooo mad at Target

MyBabeMaddie wrote: This may get long so I apologize in advance.... Anyways my DB's aunt bought us the Mikayla Infant Travel System by Graco (all pink) - its cute, really girly just how i like it, but I think it would get really dirty really fast... Anyways she gave us the original receipt (she bought it at Target)... The date of purchase was March 25... So at the top of the receipt it says Receipt expires 90 days after purchase date and the date of expiration said June 23, 2006. I called Target before I left just to make sure I wouldn't have a problem - the lady I talked to on the phone said that as long as they currently carried the stroller it wouldn't be a problem. So off we went to Target, we get there and They were like "oh your original receipt expired" I was like well we aren't asking for cash back we just wanted to exchange it for a different one.. Mind you this was the original receipt AND the stroller was still in the box untouched. She was like we can't do anything about it your purchase was for over $100... So apparently if the travel system was $99.99 they could have returned it... Being the hormonal mess that I am I started crying and walked out so my DB stayed and got the corporate number and called it while making me feel stupid for crying over the situation. I just can't believe that a store as big as Target would refuse to exchange an unopened stroller with the original receipt because my receipt "expired" 2 weeks ago... I even told the lady working that i'm having a boy and I can't push my boy around in an all pink stroller and she said that she couldn't do anything about it... sad.gif I am so mad I use to love Target.

MyLuvBugs replied: Ok. My mom works at a Target store here in NE and they will ALWAYS allow an exchange if the receipt is expired (within a couple months anyway). Did you demand to speak with a manager? I'd go back and ask for a manager, and have corporate on the cell phone at the same time. Sometimes the newbies at the return counter don't know all the ins and outs.

ediep replied: you know, I shop at Target a lot because it is convenient but their return policy is so annoying!!!! I get so fed up with them when I want to return or exchange something that I end up walking away and not even getting my money back sometimes.

moped replied: Send an email or talk to a manager........................no excuse for not returning it

C&K*s Mommie replied: Like Erika said, it may have been a newbie, or someone who wanted to go 'by the book'. Talk to a manager and get it straightened out that route, or hopefully corporate will have an answer for you.

luvmykids replied: hug.gif That stinks! I hope you get somewhere with corporate. Or is there another store where you live, maybe they would be more reasonable? Or call again and ask about the expiration date and ask for the name of the person you're talking to so when you get there you can have kind of an "authorization".

ZandersMama replied: Definitely get in touch with head office. I had to do this with Zellers, over a stroller. I was told they would not return it under any circumstances and then about 10 minutes after i called head office the local store called and told me to bring it over.

coasterqueen replied:
Same here. I've had nothing but trouble trying to return things w/them. growl.gif

holley79 replied: hug.gif I'm so sorry. I would be upset also. If we lived closer I would let you have my blue Graco stroller. (They didn't have a "girly" stroller here at ours.)

MyBabeMaddie replied: I ended up calling my mom last night in the middle of my hormonal mess and she was even more peeved than I was - she thought it was rediculous esp since I didn't want cash back or anything just a different color... So I met her at Target this morning and she worked her way up the ranks at Target until finally I guess the store manager had enough of us and just told us to go pick the same stroller in a different color - lol they didn't have one for the same price so I got an upgrade for free! I guess the big deal was there was absolutely no way for the managers to override the computer - I think thats stupid especially for the baby department where its possible women buy things in advance for one sex and then have the opposite - Stores with registeries should be very very flexible. Thanks for letting me vent - Im just glad I can shop at Target again and not feel guilty for supporting them. biggrin.gif

MyLuvBugs replied: See it helps to get a manager involved. smile.gif I'm glad it all worked out for you Sweetie. hug.gif

mammag replied: Glad it ended up working out for you! They are really weird with things like that.

I went there once and they rang up an item twice by mistake but she totaled it before I caught it. I had to go over to the return desk, which had a huge line because of her mistake. I was so mad. I thought it was ridiculous that they can't correct mistakes at the register.....wonder how many people have just left and taken the loss because of that.....

Sounds like they need to get a different computer system if all your troubles were because the computer was smarter than the people.... rolleyes.gif
