loveydad wrote: This is it, I guess. We're going to the courthouse tommrow morning to find out what we have to do.
If all goes well I should be a married man when I see you guys next.
I'm so excited!
iluvmysweetiepies replied: Wow! Congratuations!! That's great!!! I wish you the best tomorrow
loveydad replied: Thanks! And hopefully this will the last of people yelling at us for living together!
texasp3 replied:
Woohoo!!
Yay, for being excited! Wow .. is your head spinning?
DH and I got married down at the courthouse on our lunch break one day in January of '00. The women I worked with thought it was horrible that I didn't at least wear a dress. Of course, I didn't OWN a dress. Hey, I put on a nice sweater, c'mon!
I don't know what state you live in, but in Illinois we had some sort of waiting period between getting the license and getting hitched... or something like that. I dunno... it required multiple trips to two seperate municipal facilities... that I DO remember! We took care of the paperwork one day, and then on a day that Michael was already going to be out of school (dentist's appointment) we let our friends and family know we were getting hitched at noon!
The absolute BEST part for us was that Michael stood up in front of the judge with us well, wiggled is more like it - he just could not stand still... he bounced on his little feet as fast as he could and grinned like an idiot the entire time. He was eleven. Ahhhhhhhhh, you're making me smile at the memories!!
LOVE IT!!
3forme replied: WOW! Congrats...best wishes...yippee!
Let us know how it goes!
texasp3 replied:
Oh yeah... we put up with that for quite a while!! Whoopdeedoo.
All those yellers thought they had "won" or "gotten through to us"... when in fact, my new employer offering the big fat paycheck and mind boggling benefits, did NOT offer said benefits to opposite sex domestic partners. So, off to the courthouse we went. In our hearts, we had been married for years.
loveydad replied: i've got to stop shrieking. It doesn't have the same effect on here .It makes my twibbles laugh like crazy though. Or scream. I don't really do it. I don't have to explain this LOL
In Idaho I think you can just go get it and same day get married because had some freinds who did that.
I'm over excited about the whole thing. Won't be able to sleep (though I'm not allowed to anyway, cause I get woke up every few hours! LOL) and the kids are noticing the edge on their air because they're kinda acting a little nervous or something.
LoL about the dress- I'm not going to wear a tux. Tavia told me what I'm going to wear, jeans and a button down. She's good at picking out my clothes. LoL
loveydad replied: oh they didn't win either, and i'll tell em that. LOL. My new mil is not exactly thrilled about me marrying her daughter at this point, but she even less thrilled about me getting her daughter pregnant and NOT marrying her. Of course I don't take much heed because she loved Sawyer, and Sawyer was a girl beating jack@ss.
maestra replied: Congratulations! I got married in Vegas, but it was a planned wedding- we went there since dh has this huge family. We knew that if we had a wedding here they would all come- just to get free food and drinks. I was 6 months pregnant with Jaci at the time, and didn't feel like putting up with that.
Dh asked me to marry him just after he moved in, and just before we found out I was pg. So "they" didn't win either, but it didn't stop 'em from saying it!
loveydad replied: LoL! Relatives can be annoying.
Emeraldsmom replied: Awesome. Congradulations. I hope everything goes well. My husband and I had a very small wedding, not the one I always dreamed of, but we didn't have the money. But we just decided a big fancy wedding was not worth going into debt over. So we decided on our 10 yr ann. we should be better off money wise and could renew our vows and have a bigger wedding. I am sure your wedding we be beautiful no matter what. Let us know how it went!
