Showering....??

jacobsmama wrote: How in the world do you take a shower??? I know that sounds weird but I was thinking the other day of the last time I took a shower bymslef without Jacob saying "I want in" or "what are you doing" or "I want a shower too" or get out mama????

I usually shower in the AM when Jacob is up and in the bathroom with me because DH is a work and I can't shower at night b/c my hair is the very full thick kind and it will be sooo puffy and uncontrollable in the AM... wacko.gif

What I would give to get a shower all by mself!!! wub.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: On my work weeks, I shower way before Logan wakes up. On my off weeks, I shower while he is napping.

jacobsmama replied: I also shower in the AM before he is up on days I have to work but on days I"m off I like to shower in AM before I go to store and errands so I guess that is where my dilemma runs in! tongue.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: That is what ballcaps are for. If I have to leave the house before nap time, I wash my face, brush my hair and teeth and pull the hair in a pony or put on a cap. LOL.

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: I will do 3 things...
1. Tell them NO
2. Turn on the TV for them in my bedroom and put the gate on the stairs so they are stuck upstairs with me
3. Put them n the bath tub. We have a textured bath tub (didn't used to and no way could they take a bath w/o me holding on) right next to my shower so they can't slide around and I can see them and be there in one second if anything does happen.

C&K*s Mommie replied: Christian used to take showers by herself, and Kellie would take one with me. But months back their Meme (my MIL) got them hooked on bubble baths- so that is how they get clean every day.

I usually take one right about now, while they are down for a nap. If I do take one while they are up, I lock the deadbolt (to the front door) so no one can get in, and they cannot open the door to anyone on the other side, and they are typically in and out of the bathroom with me. If I do not hear from them every few minutes, then I call out to make sure that they are okay. Suprisingly, that is the only time that they do not seem to fight... huh.gif when I am in the shower. bigthink.gif

CAMSMOM1 replied: I either take a shower when Cam is down for a nap, or if I don't get a chance then, I will let him play in the bathroom when I'm taking a shower. I close the door so he can't get out and I can keep my eye on him. He brings in his toys, usually throws them in the shower with me, and likes to stick his head in so he can get wet! Crazy guy!
It's hard to find alone time, or enjoy a nice, long shower when you are a Mommy!

MyLuvBugs replied: I shower before Lorelei wakes up in the morning. She usually stirs around 8 or 9, So I try to be in and out of the shower by 8:30.

MamaJAM replied: I usually shower before the kids are up....but - if I have to shower when they are awake - the older ones I allow to stay downstairs and watch TV - or to play in their bedroom. The boys are still a bit young for that - so I put them in their bedroom.
We don't allow 'company' in the bathroom.....privacy is stressed here from birth. So my kids are used to being elsewhere during my showers.

Maybe you could give your tot a few toys he hasn't played with in a while in his room while you grab a quick shower. Keep some special 'Mommy's time' toys for showers and potty-trips.

coasterqueen replied: When Ryan was in Lousianna for that 3 months I put Megan in her exersaucer and Kylie would sit on a stool by her so that I could see both of them. I would take my shower and be sure I could see both and if Kylie strayed I'd call her back to the stool or that general area. happy.gif Then while I was blow drying my hair (doing this sitting on the master closet floor) I'd give megan a small box of toys to play with sitting right by me. Kylie usually played in that same vicinity so I could see her. I never did my make-up until I was on my way to work and the same went for jewelry, etc.

That's how this full-time working mother gets it done, especially when her husband's not present. Course he's home now but I'm so used to doing it this way for the past three months I pretty much still do it this way. happy.gif

ediep replied: Jason usually watches a video if we are alone and I need to shower. On the days when he is in preschool I shower while he is gone

mom21kid2dogs replied: I haven't taken a shower by myself in 2 years! I feel your pain! laugh.gif
The good news is at 5 Olivia finally kicks me out so she can take a shower by herself. At least someone gets a shower by herself! cool.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: I either take a shower at the gym (my main incentive for going since they have daycare & I can take as long as I want) or I put Lauren in the playpen and turn on a video for both girls to watch. I usually get my hair washed before K comes in wanting something.

MomToJade&Jordan replied: No kidding right? Jordan goes in her bouncy seat and Jade is usually in her room watching a movie.

kimberley replied: rolling_smile.gif i feel your pain. i cant remember when the last time i had a peaceful shower was blink.gif

TeagansMom609 replied: I just bring Teagan in the bathroom and she plays with whatever I bring in there for her to play with. Ive never had a hard time getting a shower. We sing the ABC's and songs while im in there. I guess im lucky, she's always been ok about me getting a shower. wub.gif

It should be alot more interesting with her and the new baby in there in a bouncy... blink.gif

Momof3inMe replied: I shower most days during nap time, but if we are going out I shower before Carter goes to school so he can play with Emily

Kaitlin'smom replied: during work days I shower and get ready before Kait is up, weekends DH watches her but if he is not home she can usually watch something while I take a fast one or I waite till she is napping.

My2Beauties replied: Our house is so small, her bedroom is right next to the bathroom. So I make sure the door is locked and I keep the bathroom door open for her and then she plays in her room or comes in there and plays in the bathroom. I normally do it really fast and if she stays in her room for more than a few minutes I yell her name and she comes in there.

My3LilMonkeys replied: Days I go to the gym I shower there. Days I don't go to the gym I usually squeeze it in before they get up.

jacobsmama replied:
AMEN...hahhaa emlaugh.gif I have tried giving Jacob toys and movies and his room and everything but no matter what I give him he just wants to stand there and open and shut the shower door..

It use to be so easy when I could just put him in the bouncey seat or the walker!! And I use to think that was hard..OM what have I gotten myself into!! haha blahblah.gif
