Hillbilly Housewife wrote: Where do you like to shop the most? What's the biggest amount of money that you have ever spent in ONE day? What the heck did you buy?!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I would have to say Jcpenney is my favorite, I do ALOT of online shopping, and since I am a preferred member I get lots of different discounts and free shipping qite often.

As for the most I spent in a day would have to been when we bought a House! ohmy.gif No thats alot of money! but so well worth it! I love my home, I just think it might be getting to small for us. Or maybe we just have to much stuff, can you say garage sale!

supermom replied: Smile -
Besides the house and car, one day last spring we managed to spend about $1000 - we got a new gas grill, new outdoor patio furniture, some trees for our yard, and some other odds and ends. Was quite a bundle, but we needed all of it, and we use it like crazy! It was definately not money wasted by any means. In fact, we use our outdoor grill even in the winter with a foot of snow on the ground - lol

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
You mean you only get *a foot* of snow?! Geez... someitmes, where I live, we get snow banks that are higher than cars.... rofl!

huh.gif

supermom replied:
LOL!!!

Actually, for us, that's a LOT of snow....at least usually it is. We don't get a lot of snow, but we do get ice, and in the spring, like now, we get thunder, lightning and tornadoes! There are always tradeoffs, I guess, but as far as winter, we are pretty lucky.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: To counter that though, we get REALLY HOT summers... it's gone up to 40 degrees Celcius... not counting humidity...

Blech. The seasons here are too extreme. lol!

jdkjd replied: I hate to post this but I haven't seen snow in person in 10 years. Only on TV.

On the other hand, I have experienced 113 degrees with 100% humidity-ick. So I guess it balances... sunflower.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Lucky you!!

But... you don't get to make snowmen... or snow angels... or have snowball fights... or ski... or snowboard... or slide down hills (now THAT is quality FUN!!)

Worst of all...you don't get to experience the real beauty of a light snow falling on a moonlit night... seeing the ice on the leaf less trees (makes you think you're in a crystal city!) going outside and taking a walk... and then going inside to sit by the fireplace with a cup of cocoa and cuddling with your honey and your kids...

You're missing out my dear! As cold as it can get up here (even if it's not THAT bad...) the advantages of snow greatly outweigh the disadvantages!!

supermom replied:
LOL -
Now you have all of us Americans doing the math in their heads (104 degrees F) - lol - yes, it gets that hot here too in the summer, and very very humid......

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
lol! sorry!! heh heh! unsure.gif

jdkjd replied: What really stinks is the only sport I ever really enjoyed was snow skiing! I learned in middle school and went every year with my church until college...or until my parents stopped funding trips. We took our last family trip 1991, sooo fun.

I love snow-I just wish I could stay here and change the weather to more like North Carolina's where they seem to have the best of both worlds...

CantWait replied:

I absolutely agree with you!!!!

As for my favourite place to shop, in general, I'd have to say Walmart, they have everything there and at really cheap prices, I can easily spend a couple hundred there and walk out with my hands full.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Walmart rules!! lol!! I like Zellers and Giant Tiger too.... all chap, great stuff!!!

Does anybody go to Sally Ann's? (Salvation Army...donated clothes for like 50c - 4$, furniture, eveything!!)

KatieLeigh79 replied: ..im way to cheap to spend a ton of money at once *laugh* besides my car - which i had to have, and the house which im guessing was a needed expense as well - DH broke down and had a hottub put in our basement (i think it was more for him then me though *laugh*) but that had a total price tag of a little over 10 thousand because we had to add a second window to one of the walls in the basement to get it slid through... if i try to get baby clothes, or anything for myself i either try to trade for them on trade boards, or use gift cards or anything of the sort (including rolled change) ive only taken money out with my atm card at the bank 3x since being married in 2000, i just use the debit card to pay for gas and groceries - who knows though maybe someday he will realize that and just give me a large amount of cash and tell me to have fun, which wouldnt be a problem tongue.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Woah!!

I use my ATM card like every 2 or 3 days.... lol blink.gif

MommyToAshley replied: I would have to say our biggest expense is when we go into a electronics store or store that sells computers. We are ALWAYS upgrading our computers. Partly because we use them for business and partly because we are both computer gamers (well, before Ashley was born --haha) But, we usually upgrade both machines at the same time so we end up spending a few thousand everytime we upgrade.

MomToMany replied: wavey.gif My favorite places to shop are Wal-Mart and eBay!! I can't remember the most I spent at once, not counting house or car, but I think it's in the fall when everybody needs new clothes for school, school supplies, new shoes, etc!!! I don't think it's fair to just buy for the kids in school, so I get something (lots, actually!) for everybody! I love looking on eBay; it's addicting!! That's where I got Hannah's clothes for summer cool.gif .

Another shopping addict here blush.gif !!

Schnoogly replied: Hey we are big gamers too! Well my DH is mostly. What's your fave game? Mine is Civ III or the sims. My DH likes neverwinter nights. how many computers do you have? We have 3 but don't have a home business. My dh is a systems admin.

Steph

Schnoogly replied: Forgot to add that the last time I saw snow it had fallen off a car coming from the mountains...no snow here in the near desert of so cal, but we have many 110 degree days in the summer. You don't want to see our electric bill in August. I am dreading summer since I hate being hot, Iain already hates being hot (we've had some 90 degree days so far) and since he wants to be held all the time it makes us even hotter! Our bedroom is upstairs and it is 90 in there by 7am. Ugh. Summer also lasts until November here. Next time I am definitely getting pg in march again. Yay winter babies!
