Shaving Cream!

Crystalina wrote: One of the messy things the kids like to do is fingerpaint with shaving cream. While I was making dinner last night they had some fun and Izabella made me a valentine with a shaving cream portrait of me. wub.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: thats a great picture. I am not brave enougth to let Kaitlin do something like that.

mommy~to~a~bunch replied: rolling_smile.gif LOL, that is so fun! My kids love that!

Kaitlin'smom replied: okay I do have to ask do you just do it on the table? and what kind of shaving cream do you use? woudl it hurt my wood table? how messy is it to clean up? I know Kaitlin woudl love this I am just not thrilled with what kind of mess it woudl make on my table and floor.

mommy~to~a~bunch replied: I have a cheap shower curtain that I let them "paint" on that I put on the table. I get that cheap Barbasol in the striped can, and let them have fun! I can fold it up & rinse it in the tub with no mess (well, except the kids LOL).

CantWait replied: That's cool, how does it stay foamy and white???

I might have to do it up for Anthony this afternoon.

sparkys2boys replied: ohmy.gif Your a brave brave soul..lol. OMG I don't think I could handle the mess. Looks like a heck of a good time though!

Crystalina replied: We use the cheap shaving cream. The cheaper the better because they pretty much use the whole can which answers the next question about it staying creamy and white. They use the whole can so it lasts awhile. emlaugh.gif

Clean up is just wiping most of it off with paper towels and then a small bucket of water and a sponge. It does take a bit to get the "sticky" feeling off.

As for ruining the wood...not sure. So far it hasn't made a difference in my table but then again my table is old and I wouldn't recognize it if was getting ruined or not. happy.gif I usually throw a table cloth over it because there are spots where we have easter egg dye from a few years ago. rolleyes.gif

As SewingMama said, you could put something down first. It's cheap and entertains them a long while. biggrin.gif

ETA: if you look at the first pic you'll see by Izabella's hand some of that red and blue easter egg dye. happy.gif

coasterqueen replied: Very cool! I'd be willing to try it on a shower curtain or something like Mollie said, but I have this funny feeling my kids would still make a HUGE mess. tongue.gif I'd still try it, but I wonder what my Dh would think of me. laugh.gif Oh and I'm not sure my kids would stay entertained very long. bigthink.gif I might have to test this theory out. laugh.gif

luvmykids replied: We do that too, but I just put a squirt on a piece of construction paper. Once it dries you can actually still see the designs they did....it's one of their favorite things to do laugh.gif

Calimama replied: That looks neat!! I'm worried Miabella would try to eat it though. emlaugh.gif

mckayleesmom replied: It looks fun.....I would rather put them in the bathtub with shower crowns and that shower color cream they make just for kids in the bath...the foam stuff......They they can make a mess all they want and are bathing at the same time... rolling_smile.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: Contrary to what many people may think, it's not messy at all. happy.gif The cream slowly dissolves while they play, it makes the room smell really nice, and it cleans the table all at the same time. biggrin.gif It's also a super easy clean up. I just use wet washcloths and it wipes right up. Nothing to fear ladies. laugh.gif Tanner loves doing that. I use to have the kids practice writing their letters and numerals in it.

Crystalina replied:
Yes, I learned this from Evan's pre-school so if they can tackle it in 2 hours time and have fun and clean up I figured it can't be that bad. smile.gif And like you said it smells nice. My kids actually had it dripping off the end of the table and it never hits the floor. They like to put a bunch in their hand and keep rubbing it until it's gone. happy.gif

Crystalina replied: You can see in the bottom pic how it hangs off the table and doesn't fall. smile.gif
