SO... - NAMES NAMES NAMES
ashtonsmama wrote: Now that we know we're having our little *GIRL*, we'd really like to start back on our "name quest".
There are just SO many we like (okay, literally, I like, because Ryan couldn't care less)...and we need more help.
Jessi suggested Savannah, I really love that name, how about Charlotte (but calling her Charlie/Charley for short)? Too wierd? And I still love Isabella, but it's getting so popular. Oakley and Paisley I think got ruled out, but any takers there, let me know.
OK-here are some, just give me some honest opinions, and any suggestions, feel free! I'm loving these ones: Harlee, Emmi/Emma, Makena...WDYT?
Emmi Aylie Harlee Olivia/Alivia Ella Rhianna Emerie Delaney Natalie McKenzie Mikaley McKaela Mikaela Makena
I keep forgetting all the names we'd been thinking about. Refresh my memory?
Thanks!
MyLuvBugs replied: I like Makena Charlotte. It's kinda pretty.
Mommy2Isabella replied: I love the name Isabella!!! But, that is what we are naming our little girl so ... of course I love it!!! One of the names that I loved that Sal shot down was Mi-Kaela! Good luck .. and CONGRATS ON THE GIRL! !!
jaytrevjax replied: We are planning on naming our daughter (if we ever get one) Lainee. We have had this named picked out when I was preggo with my oldest son!
ashtonsmama replied: I love Mikaela! How dare you Sal! And I still LOVE Isabella, and I love Nichole's choice of Bella Soleil (beautiful sunshine), I'd totally use that if it wasn't already taken! And Makena Charlotte Hayes sounds pretty cute, eh? Like it. I'll have to tell R.
Thanks! And Erika--LOVE that pic of Lorelei and Daddy!
AlexsPajamaMama replied: I like Mikaela
That is Michelle in Hawaiin and what I plan on naming my baby girl when/if I have one!
ashtonsmama replied: That's adorable. I do love the name Laney, Laine, etc. More for a middle though...and I've always thought of a boy's middle name with Lane...I'm wierd.
And Michelle, I didn't know Mikaela was Michelle in Hawaiian! How cool is that?
And Ashton & Mikaela sounds pretty cute together eh?
jaytrevjax replied: Thanks! It is acually after Justin's (My DH) mom. Her name is Elaine and I've always thought of that name as an older name, so we thought Lainee would be cute! her middle name would be after my mom's middle name, Bea. Lainee Bea Openshaw would be her name. Hopefully I will be able to use it! By the way, Congrats on YOUR little pink bundle!
Bee_Kay replied: My favorites are Emma and Olivia
siblingtooolivia replied: I love Harlee / Harley - either spelling but I LOVE the name....and of course Olivia is my utmost fav but that is because my Olivia is my utmost fav!!!
C&K*s Mommie replied: Of the names you have listed, I like Olivia & Harlee.
There is a beautiful sweet dispostion little girl named Harleigh in a Sunday 2yr old nursery, she is so quiet, but so kind too. I also like the way her parents chose to spell her name, too.
jaytrevjax replied: I really LOVE that spelling! For some reason, it seems to fit a little girl better that the other ones!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I like Charlotte A LOT and think it's great calling her Charlee!! Very cute! And actually one of the names I picked if we were to have a girl. Another of our "girl" names is Audrey, which would be cute with Ashton. Or Aubree.
My friend has two girls and their names are Malia and Ava. Love them both!
Olivia is always a beautiful name!
Halo42101 replied: Sorry but Harlee reminds me of a Harley Davidson and Emmi reminds me of the Emmi Awards. I love all the other names though.
KingMom replied: I liked...
Emmi Layne McKaela Savannah
Halo42101 replied: I guess one might think of Savannah as Savannah, Georgia, too, huh?
3xsthefun replied: I like Harlee & Olivia.
KingMom replied: Also...a few from our lists...
Lauren Reese
Lauren Elizabeth
Lauren Paige
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Savannah is such a pretty name! I like that one too!
luvbug00 replied: . I Like charrlotte! classic and never goes out of style.
ashtonsmama replied: Hey, I asked for honest. I was waiting for someone to bring that up.
Thanks everyone for the ideas...
For middle names, we like: Rae Hope Elaine (MAYBE) Laine (after my MIL) Kate
What about Sydney?
Boys r us replied: Well, I know you like unusal names..I do too! or not so much unusual, but I don't want there to be 5 of them in her classroom when she starts school!
So, given that, I would steer clear of any of the "mc" names and also olivia and any form of Emily(emma...etc) Unless of course you're really set on one of them and just love it!
I've always loved the name Bella for a girl..not isabella or any other form..just bella..but now it's sooooo popular b/c so many people are naming their kids Isabella and calling them belle or bella for short...If I hadn't just always been in love with the name, we would go another route b/c of the popularity factor there. In fact until a couple of weeks ago we were tossing around the name Layla and Lilly, both of which are less common than Bella and we both agreed were great names. But I just can't get past the whole meaning of Bella Soleil..I mean we've wanted a girl for so long and it just seems appropriate that we give her a name that symbolizes what she means to us..so we're sticking with Bella Soleil!
I'm rambling..sorry!
Uhhhh so..that frees up the other names we were thinking on..LOL...Layla & Lilly are fabulous names! Both very feminine which was important to me in giving my daughter a name. Charlotte, I don't know..it's okay...it seems kind of like an old woman's name though.
I LOVE SAVANNAH! In fact, 10 years ago one of my close friends and I were in a race to beat the other one out in having a girl so we could name her Savannah Grace. LOL neither of us had a girl and now she is moving to Savannah and can't use the name b/c like she said, It would sound kind of stupid to be standing in a park in Savannah haulering, "Savannah" !!!!
I also love the name Piper and Ainsley!
ashtonsmama replied: Thanks Nichole! Great ideas there, and yes you're right on my preferences on names...so yes, we're thinking maybe not those McKaela/McKenzie similar/common names...but they are just so cute.
We'll see. Thanks for the ideas!
luvmykids replied: Kylie's middle name is similar, Laine.
I know little girl with the names Harlee, Emerie, and Mikayla and like all three names. I also love Lilly, that was my grandmas name and to this day I wish I'd named Kylie that instead.
Ashlynn's Mommy replied: I like Paisley Hope, and Savannah Rae. There pretty names, and very different.
luvmykids replied: I also have a neice named Aurora, but her nickname is what I love, which is Rory.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I really like Harlee. I like the name Oceanna too - like Oh-say-ann-ah, and I have a friend names Ornella.
I like really different names too...and had I had my own way, my kids would be names Rand, Ariel and Jezabel.
PS - Soleil does not mean sunshine - it mean Sun. "Rayon de soleil" or "Lumiere de soleil" means sunshine.
JP&KJMOM replied: My cousin just named her little one Lilly and I love it. It had been a long time since I had heard it when she decided to go with it. Rather unique right now.
Boys r us replied: I also love the name Milan or Milana
luvmykids replied: Rand is my maiden name!
MyLuvBugs replied: That does sound really nice together, and thanks! That's on of my favs.
huggybugboy replied: I love the name Emerie but Josh shot it down because of emery boards. he thinks of something negative for every name I like. I love the name Harlee too: I have a friend who just named her daughter Harlee (actually her whole name is Harland) but its really cute on her. I really like unusual names too and names with a really nice meaning.
How bout these? Aaralyn: with song Caia: to rejoice Eden: paradise Elani/Elana/Ellie: light Eliana: the Lord answers Lani: sky or heaven Naia: flowing
I know some of them are weird. so am I, oh well.
Nina J replied: I like Harlee the best. I like the name Mateo (Ma-tay-o) for a girl, Mikayla and Mackenzie made me think of that
Melmel replied: I would agree on the Emily names being too popular. One form I haven't heard though is Emoline, My great aunts middle name. I always liked it. I have a friend who named their daughter Lizabeth, call her Lizzie. I liked that.
Emoline Lizabeth, Lizzie Tori Tess Britlynn
My husband Veto'd alot of names when we had our Girl. Her name is Christa.
jaytrevjax replied: I LOVE your daughter's name. But that's probably because that is my name too! You guys have GREAT taste! LOL! But I spell it Krista!
holley79 replied:
I know this is going to sound stupid, but I love this name. I named my first horse this after the singer. Shawn and I were going to actually name Annika this but then we fell harder for Annika.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: I knew a girl in highschool named Rhianna...its a pretty name IMO!
Our Lil' Family replied: I love the name Amelia...DH isn't crazy about it. I also love the name Anna Grace (which our daughter...God willing we ever have one, will be named, after my gma).
I have an Emory in my VBS class right now, along with 2 Payton's, 2 McKenzies and Madeline....way too popular names for me. Some others are Francis (yes, girl), Dusti, Londyn, Kaycee, Kaydin...that's all I can remember right now.
I also like Ava, Jillian & Lilly.
TANNER'S MOM replied: I like the name Ryan for a girl.. Like after her Dad..or even for a middle name..
Bella Ryan...
Ryan Layne
Tanner Layne..Boy or girl.. Hmmm I have a boy named that..lol
Ryan Grace
I like Savannah too.. I have a nice named Savannah.. and we call her Vanna
Hadley Grace.. I like too
Cece00 replied: The only two we liked before we found out we were having a boy this time were Ava and Amelia. Last time we liked Natalie (which obviously won) and Mia.
ashtonsmama replied: I love Rory because it reminds me of Gilmore Girls, and she has such a sweet disposition, I love that actress. But for some reason, it feels like a boy's name to me...
I do like Hadleigh/Hadlee as well, Mel. And Ryann, but kind of with two r's. Maybe for a middle?
I've always thought Mia was cute, like Amelia, from Princess Diaries.
And Katie, I loved some of those names you suggested, they weren't THAT wierd! Aaralyn: with song (doesn't excite me too much, but pretty) Caia: to rejoice (I LOVE Kya/Kaia) Eden: paradise (cute, but too hippyish for me, don't know why) Elani/Elana/Ellie: light (Elani is cute, Elana-ehhh, and Ellie and Ella I kind of like) Eliana: the Lord answers (LOVE Eliana) Lani: sky or heaven (I really like Kylani & Kainani, Hawaiian type of names) Naia: flowing (kind of like Nya)
Hmmmm...we're almost set on a name here...
And I Rocky--I totally thought that Soleil meant sunshine, DUH.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Most anglophones do.
