Really nast scaly skin on Emilie

Hillbilly Housewife wrote: Poor thing... I've been trying to kep her moisturized just about 24/7.... but it's so dang dry here, poor girl has big patches of red scaly skin. bawling.gif

So pitiful to see her.... the only place there isn't any, is her back, foreherad, hands and feet, oh and none in her frontal nether region.

She stayed a few days at the in;aws last week (less dry) and it cleared up some... i'd sent the lotion with her - but when she came back i was out. I've been using Mary Kay stuff on her temporarily, until i can get a new big bottle of lotion...

does anything actually work on really severely dried skin? Exzema? other than prescription stuff? I'm thinking of getting a humidifier to help at home... my poor reptile looking baby! bawling.gif

booey2 replied: I recently bought a couple of bottles of a lotion for my sister from shoppers drug mart, can't remember the name but it was like 13 bucks a bottle and it works wonders on her. I will look tonight and see if you can use it on little ones and the name of it. The sitter uses it in between perscription cream and it is awesome.

Kaitlin'smom replied: When Kait was little and had horrible dry skin on her cheeks, I was told a little vasaline, cleared her up in a couple days.

ammommy replied: I use Aquaphor for Megan, ped ped's recommendation. It's non-prescription, but sometimes I have to get it at the pharmacist's counter.
ETA...A&D lotion works well, too.

coasterqueen replied: Is it just baby acne? Both my girls had this but Megan had it something fierce and for WAY longer than Kylie did. It was so awful I wanted to cry just looking at her because I felt so bad for her. It didn't seem to bother either of them though.

My ped gave me a script for Kylie which sorta helped, but I think he did that because I wouldn't stop nagging about it. happy.gif With Megan he told me to just be patient so I did.

moped replied: Glaxo Base is what works great for us - I use it on Jack and me - and it is the only thing that cleared up my nephews skin

ediep replied: AQUAPHOR!!!!!! The stuff is awesome!!!

amymom replied:
Also Eucerin cream. Both of these are made by the same company and cost alot but well worth it!!!!

jdkjd replied: Sounds like eczema. Kiera has it really bad and aquaphor is the only thing that keeps it clamed down. Just grease her right after bath and in the morning. And keep her nails short to keep her from scratching herself too badly.

If it doesn't get better she will need a prescription for the good lotion. Our ped recommended Benadryl on bad nights too.

jacobsmama replied: My son had same thing..still does if fI don't use this Melaleuca lotion on him...I just got it 4 weeks ago and his skin is sooo clear now. It is from a private place I buy but you can get some from me to try like a sample if ya want..I had rx from dermatologist it was really oily and didn't help but this lotion did tongue.gif

Renew by Melaleuca. wub.gif

CantWait replied: I use Vaseline creamy. It comes in a jar and it's rather thick, but not greasy. It works awesome, and is actually pretty cheap.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Thanks everyone... i've still been using the MaryKay stuff on her... lol I still haven't been to a drug store. emlaugh.gif

DH is getting some Contac C for me tonight, I'll get him to pick up a few lotions ans stuff to try on her skin.

ilovemybaby replied: Could be excema. It may be Psoriasis?
