Read any good books lately?

MomofJandB wrote: I've been stuck in a rut reading Nora Roberts books, which are really good. I love romance with some sort of mystery involved. Any suggestions?

jolene555 replied: i'm sure you've heard of is, but i highly suggest the da vinci code and the left behind series - especially if you are catholic and/or christian. i could not put them down.

kit_kats_mom replied: I'm currently reading "Shopaholic Takes Manhattan". So far it's pretty funny. The character is a Brit & the humor is sort of Bridgett Jones' Diary. I'm enjoying it

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I read all the time. James Patterson has some great romance/mysteries. I just read Sam's Letters to Jennifer and I can't think of the other one off the top of my head. I have also read all of Nicholas Sparks books. Those are great and easy reads. I am reading A Widow For One Year right now. The movie "The Door In the Floor" is based on this novel.

MomToMany replied: Yep! I've read Winnie The Pooh 5 times, Hop On Pop 3 times, Because A Little Bug Went Ka-Choo 4 times...................................

ediep replied: Shopaholic books are great

I also love Jane green books...Jemmima J and Bookends are my fave

How do you guys do it???

loveydad replied: Henry and I have been reading the Harry Potter series to the twits. Now trust me, i've been gauging (i typed gagging) them really well to test to make sure it wasn't bad for them , and they show no signs of being scared- they're really excited and constantly begging me to read. Now we jsut finished Number 4 , but number 5 is kind of boring for tyhe younger set, so Hen just reads them the highlights (like when the weasley twins fly off to open a joke shop).

I haven't had time to read adult books!

amynicole21 replied: Love the Harry Potter books... I read them the week they come out! I also just finished Life of Pi which I LOVED! Sort of fantasy, fiction, wharped humor... Highly recommended. Got to find a new book for my vacation next week, though somehow I doubt I'll get much reading done since I'll be chasing Phia the whole time rolleyes.gif

TANNER'S MOM replied: I read alot, to the point that my husband as threatned divorce more than once for ignorning him. He says he is a book widow...

I have discovered Tess Garristen. Romance, medical murder mystery all in one. It has broken the rut I was in with Nora Roberts. I also like James Patterson and Patricia Cornwell. And If I have nothing to read I am not above a Harlequin Romance either.

This is a funny story so I will add it. My husband gripps at me b/c when he is driving I will bring a book to pass the time, you know 7 miles dirt road. He hates it b/c he wants to talk. Yesterday we were getting in the truck and my son(6) said wait I forgot something ,he ran in the house and grabbed one of his books to bring. My husband said great another one to ignore me. I said great another one with a great mind for adventure that doesn't need a TV. lol It warms my heart to see that I have given him my love of reading.

5littleladies replied: Ok-don't laugh. I'm reading the "Little House on the Prairie" books. blush.gif I read them every fall and every spring. I love them! tongue.gif

~Roo'sMama~ replied: Well I just watched "Anne of Green Gables" and "Anne of Avonlea" So now I have to read the books.... I've read them a hundred times but they're good every time! happy.gif

DansMom replied: I love a novelist named Kazuo Ishiguro---he wrote Remains of the Day, which they made a film out of (coincidentally, I think that was the last move Christopher Reeves was able-bodied in). Ishiguro's novels are always written in the first person with an unreliable narrator, so it's exciting as the reader to try to figure out what is really happening as opposed to how the narrator describes it from his skewed perspective. He is Japanese but grew up in England, so he has a multi-cultural understanding of people, and he is excellent at delving into the hearts of people who cover up their real emotions with manners.

I'm about half way through his novel When We Were Orphans---it's wonderful, and actually this one is a mystery of sorts (but no romance). This is only the second novel I've read since Daniel was born---I'm getting in about 3 pages a night before I fall to sleep LOL!
