I will miss Bea Arthur. I hope her and Estelle are up there laughing it up.
Danalana replied: I cried when I found out...The Golden Girls is one of my all-time favorite shows. I still watch the re-runs just about every day, and she is/was my favorite on the show. I couldn't fathom that she was 86, but I can see now how that could be. I'll miss her, for sure
mckayleesmom replied: Actually Estelle Getty who played her mom was younger then her.
Danalana replied: Yeah, I always thought that was funny. And have you ever noticed how different Sophia (Estelle) looked in the beginning of the series? What was up with that?
stella6979 replied: Same here.
My2Beauties replied: Ohhh I didn't know that I love love love the Golden Girls...may she RIP.
Danalana replied: When I was a young teenager, my grandmother and I would watch it every Saturday night before she went to bed...those were good times. Maybe that's why it's still so nice and comforting to watch it to this day. Heck, I know pretty much every line, but that doesn't stop me
stella6979 replied: Oh gosh, me too Dana! I have the first 2 seasons on DVD and never get tired of them and Bea Arthur was always my favorite. I LOVED her quick wit!
Danalana replied: Me too! They say she was like that in real life, as well. I hope they never take that show off the air! I think I will buy some of the sesons, too, just to be safe. Isn't it something how her death shocked me? I guess I forgot that the show debuted in something like 1984...they always seemed so young to me for some reason, and I guess watching them every day sort of kept them at the same age for me. *sigh*
BAC'sMom replied: So sad
My2Beauties replied: I honestly think this was one of the best comedy shows hands down of it's time and even against the shows on today. It had such a feel good vibe didn't it? I can never ever get tired of it.
stella6979 replied: I couldn't agree more! And the entire cast was perfect, they couldn't have done a better job! The chemistry between them was just so remarkable!! Did you know though, that Rue McClanahan was originally cast to play Rose and Betty White was cast to play Blanche? I just can't picture that.
My2Beauties replied: No I had no idea, I wouldn't be able to picture it neither, Betty was perfect for Rose and Rue was perfect for Blanche. I couldn't see it any other way!
Calimama replied: Oh that's sad. I love that show!!!
HuskerMom replied: How sad! I love that show!
Danalana replied: Haha, I can't imagine anybody else being Rose or Blanche! They were all cast perfectly!
