mckayleesmom wrote: I hate grocery shopping...Its a PITA. I need to make a list...and I hate that too. Anybody have any good reciepe suggestions? I don't eat Fish or mushrooms.

AlexsPajamaMama replied: I used to do that when I worked the closing shift at a resturaunt before I was a Mommy....the store isnt busy and you can get your shopping done in peace and quiet

Have fun....I dont have any suggestions for meals, Im always at a loss for ideas too

mckayleesmom replied:
I really suck at meal planning.....we usually have alot of the same thing on different nights.

I can't stand to go to Walmart during the day anymore...too many people and plus they are remodeling and it is a hassle with all those people and remodeling.

AlexsPajamaMama replied:
Holy Moly is every single walmart remodeling!? My walmart is too....my bil works there and he says every 5 years they remodel to update stuff
I say its just a giant pita!

I do my groceries at walmart at 7-8am, not real busy then, and right now they arent 24hours with the remodeling crew there

AlexsPajamaMama replied:
Oh man Im so glad to hear we aren't the only ones who do that!!

mckayleesmom replied:
Ours are putting in new hardwood floors right now.

MommyToAshley replied: I never plan my meals so I am not the one to talk to. However, I love shopping late at night or early in the morning when there aren't any lines.
Good luck!

luvbug00 replied: Humm i've never shopped late or early I may have to try...except none of our big chain stores have grocerys that are fresh. ( big chain= target or walmart) and there is one walmart near me and it's 20 min away. too far.

kit_kats_mom replied: Brianne, to keep it easy, our meal plan looks something like this:

Monday: mexican night (usually burritos since they are easy)

Tuesday: Spaghetti Night with salad and garlic bread

Wednesday: Chicken or pork chops with frozen broccoli and mashed potatoes or rice-sometimes crock pot night depending on what's going on that week.

Thursday soup and sammies night (usually grilled cheese and tomato but sometimes we mix it up with cold cuts and lentil soup or whatever)

Friday: pizza night (we order in) and I make salad

Saturday: leftovers or breakfast for dinner (eggs toast and sausage or waffles)

Sunday: our big dinner night where I cook a roast or some other decent meal that actually requires prep. lol

For breakfast we generally have eggs, fruit, cereal, carnation instant breakfast, cereal bars, oatmeal, frozen waffles and yogurt on hand for the choosing.

Lunches are generally sandwiches and soup or lean cusines for DH and I and usually a choice of three of noodles with cheese and butter, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, frozen veggies, fish sticks, quesadillas, fruit, and milk for the kids

BTW, our walmart is remodeling too

mckayleesmom replied:
That does sound interesting...I will have to try that.....I will say that we end up with ALOT of spagetti nights. laugh.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: I went there today, they are mostly done. We got around the store with relative ease. Well minus the crowds, but it was fairly uncrowded as far as the aisles being in the way.

The parking lot is still mostly closed off at a certain point, great for us with kids though. Less traffic zooming through the crosswalk.

luvmykids replied: I do a lot of "double" type stuff, one day I make meatloaf AND meatballs at the same time, then we have meatloaf one night, meatballs (either with pasta or sandwiches) the next, plus leftovers of both for lunches. Or I'll cook a chicken, which gives a ton of meat for all kinds of things and get at least 2 meals out of that.

We do sandwiches a lot too, my favorites are BLT with avocado, or grilled cheese but I use mozarella, sourdough bread, and tomatos with a little basil sprinkled on it.

Easy casseroles:

Cook pasta, add cubed ham, one can of bean soup, one can of milk, one can of diced tomatos (drained)

OR one of my favorites, Lentils and sausage ...

Cook lentils according to package, while they're cooking, fry mild Italian Sausage, add it and a can of tomatoes to the lentils. The kids love it too.

Or pasta with the Italian sausage, with a can of tomatos and some sauteed bell peppers and onions.
