Poor Kyles - Vaccination fever

luvmykids wrote: The twins each got four shots, I'm so kicking myself for not splitting them up or delaying some of them. None of the kids have hardly ever reacted, I've always considered us very lucky in that department because they never even got fussy after shots. But Kylie is miserable, she's loaded up on Tylenol but her fever is still 101 and she's not sleeping (which is why I'm here at 3:30am laugh.gif )

I'd already planned to keep them home today after the way they felt at bedtime but she's a lot worse off than Colt bawling.gif

I did too much googling about vax reactions tonight and I couldn't sleep either laugh.gif

Nina J replied: Hope she feels better soon. I've never seen a child react to injection, but I did see a friend go bright red and sweaty after she got the cervical cancer vaccine this year. She got better though, I'm sure Kylie will too hug.gif

lovemy2 replied: hug.gif That stinks - Olivia would always run a low grade fever after shots but the only one she really had any kind of reaction to was at her 5 year appt. - I can't honestly remember which one it was but her arm was bright red, hot and hard from it for about 3 days- a normal reaction but it hurt her and I felt so bad - not to mention the emotional damage it did to her sleep.gif She freaked....

I hope they feel better soon - poor kids - and two at the same time - poor Mom hug.gif

BAC'sMom replied: I hope she is feeling better hug.gif

luvmykids replied:
Yup, this was their five year shots dry.gif The nurse said they would probably react the same way they have previously, Colt isn't as bad but Kylie is still burning up and whiny sad.gif

The nurse wasn't that great either, Kylie's first shot she got in the muscle and then couldn't get it in and had to take it out and do it again, it bled, the drama started rolling_smile.gif I was suprised, neither of the kids handled it well at all.

I kept them both home today. Colt probably could have made it through the day but he's not quite up to par either.

lovemy2 replied: Being the bad Mommy I am though I thought she was only getting ONE shot and she got THREE - the first two were enough (they do two nurses at a time) but for the last one I had to hold her down - it was horrible and Dylan had his 6 month checkup at the same time to boot - he got shots too - talk about a circus.....never again.....

luvmykids replied: I had to hold Colt down for the last two, and Kylie watched the whole ordeal with him so of course when it was her turn it was bad....I felt terrible for them bawling.gif

3xsthefun replied: I hope she feels better soon. hug.gif

luvmykids replied: Now she is throwing up sad.gif Is it the vax or just coincidence that she picked up a bug at the same time?

coasterqueen replied:
I don't know. How has she reacted in the past with shots?

luvmykids replied: Totally fine, a little feverish for the rest of the day but fine the next. I realized I gave her the last dose of Tylenol on an empty stomach though, that may have been the culprit.

Calimama replied: Poor thing, I hope she's feeling better. hug.gif
