Please keep DH in your thoughts

amynicole21 wrote: A few weeks ago, DH had some sort of attack which left him lying on the floor gasping for air. He had sharp pains in his side/back - very scary. He went to the doctor for some blood tests which came back very good. The doc told him to get an ultrasound to check things out and be sure all was well. He had that last week, and has a follow-up appointment tomorrow. He just got a call this morning that they noticed something on his spleen and want him to get a CT scan as soon as possible. We were just blowing the whole thing off before this call because everything seemed to be fine - thought it was probably really bad gas.

I don't know much about spleens, but just looked on WebMD and found that they clean your blood and you can live without them. I also read that if something was off it should have registered in his bloodwork... Hmmm. Maybe they just got bad pictures in the u/s and need to do a more thourough scan. I hope so.

Kaitlin'smom replied: probably nothing. They just wanna double check! But I will kep him in my thoughts and keep us posted!

MommyToAshley replied: Amy, did he have his appt yet today? How did it go?

amynicole21 replied:
Thanks for asking Dee Dee. He had a check-up today, not his CT scan. He was able to ask the doc why he requested more tests, though. The doc said he saw a spot that looked unusual, and that it could be anything - a bruise, a blod clot, or at the very worst a tumor. He just wanted to make absolutely certain. If it's anything but a tumor, they won't do a thing since it would fix itself. If it's a tumor they would just take the whole spleen out - you don't really need it aparantly. I feel better about this today. I just wish they had told us exactly what they had found when they called the first time rather than letting us jump to conclusions! mad.gif DH is making the CT appt today sometime, so I'll let everyone know what comes of that.

Thanks for all of your prayers and concern! It means a lot. blush.gif

TLCDad replied: Your husband will be in our thoughts and prayers.

victoire2002 replied: Our thoughts and prayers are with you! Has your DH had any accidents lately? i.e. falling off a bike, car accident, etc? A lot of people injure their spleens in accidents, and usually it gets removed like an appendectomy.

Hugs, Vicki

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Hugs and Thoughts to you!

My spleen was inflated at some point when I was 17. The doctors had no idea why. Finally, I went for an ultrasound, and there was nothing wrong. The spleen was just swollen... it hurt like a sonova-bee though... it went down a few days later, nothing wrong!

MommyToAshley replied: I am glad they finally explained everything to you... I guess Docs just don't understand how much our minds race with the worst thoughts when we don't know all the details. I hope the CT goes well, be sure to come back and let us know how things go.
