Packing a bag for the hospital...
Danalana wrote: LOL, I wish I was doing that....but I tend to procrastinate. Like, if I'm going on a trip, I will pack in the middle of the night before I leave. It's hard to plan to do that for labor, though Heck, I'm still foggy on what to take! Clothes for me and baby, I know... Anyway, when did you pack yours?
Calimama replied: Um I didn't. We went in for a stress test, nothing major and then her heartbeat dipped too low so they rushed me back to L&D and induced me.. I kept procrastinating and didn't pack it. So DH had to go home, and pack for me.. the guy tried.. but didn't get half the stuff I needed. Lesson learned on my part.
momofone replied: your bathroom products stuff for the shower magazines
A&A'smommy replied: here's a really good list to go by

Not that I would pack EVERYTHING it says but it will definitely be helpful to have most especially since you will be an hour away from home! GIRL you need to get ON it!!!
CantWait replied: My plan was to pack at my 35 weeks mark, well I went into labor at 35 weeks with Robbie, 3 days before I intended to pack. Needless to say I had nothing to go home with, I asked for toothpaste to be brought, instead I got mint gum, I asked for pants to leave the hospital in, my mom brought me a pair of tan tights (think about that).
With Anthony I packed, probably overpacked, because half the stuff I didn't use. For my l&d I packed a discman (ok now would probably be MP3) with soft music, gum or candy cause your mouth tends to get dry, comfy warm socks, and/or slippers for walking up and down and up and down and up...the halls, get the picture.
You may need diapers and vasaline for the baby, depending what your hospital provides, thick and long maxi pads. Change of clothes (for home) for you and baby, a robe. I suggest using the hospital gowns since yours might get dirty. Toiletteries.
CantWait replied: Oh and because I went at 35 wks the first time, I suggest packing at 34 wks.
Danalana replied: Oh dear....that's only a week away! And I almost wet myself when reading your first post...mint gum and tan tights
mom21kid2dogs replied: A phone card. Most hospitals won't let you use a cell phone so it came in REAL handy. I would have killed for a heating pad because they had to put my epidural in twice and the site where it was was sore. Ironically, I couldn't get a heating pad in the hospital.
boyohboyohboy replied: cell phone charger lots of snack.. slippers... i hate to touch my feet or socks on the hosp. floor! yuck
clothes for you and he to wear home.. i packed clothes for dh too because he was there two days...
A&A'smommy replied: um and yeah don't forget to get a call buddy
Brias3 replied: I set a bag out and had some things ready to go about a month and a half in advance, but basically ended up throwing things in right before we left. One thing that I wish I had brought more of was SOCKS so make sure and pack some!!
luvmykids replied: Pack NOW, you just never know!
Take what the others have mentioned, along with camera, change for the vending machine, snacks, and one of your pillows from home.
Danalana replied: Oh, these are such good suggestions! You people are SO helpful
HuskerMom replied: I think I packed Keith's stuff a couple weeks before and my stuff that night. But I waited about 6 hours before going to the hospital after the contractions started so I had plenty of time.
