Oooo, I get so mad!

amynicole21 wrote: Yet again, the people on my favorite radio station were bashing breastfeeding today. mad.gif The topic was the nurse-in at the Starbucks in Maryland, and even one of the women was saying it was icky. The fact that people are so mis-educated makes me so ill. I know that I should just pity them, but it makes me angry anyway. One male caller called to say that his wife was nursing his 2yo son and he was supportive of her and thought it was great. They all were laughing at him and insinuating that there was something wrong with his wife and she had some hidden agenda mad.gif Grrr! I wanted to call and set them straight, but I'm too shy. sad.gif

A&A'smommy replied: WHAT IS wrong with people! Nursing your baby is wonderful, healthy, a great bonding time and so much more I really wish I could have nursed alyssa. GRRRR Idiots!

aspenblue1 replied: That gets me so mad when people do that. I got into a discussion with people at work about it. I just can not believe how ignorant people are when it comes to breastfeeding.

maestra replied: I had a friend that thought it was gross too. But she never wants and should never have children. What morons for saying that! I just weaned Jaci a couple of days ago and it is still very hard for both of us. bawling.gif

MomToMany replied: smash.gif smash.gif smash.gif That makes me furious, too! I would've called in and set them straight rolling_smile.gif !

kimberley replied: ohmy.gif that is appaling! how ignorant can people be??!! mad.gif

jcc64 replied: Breasts have become so fetishized (is this even a word?) as sexual objects that when they're seen out of their usual contexts (beer ads, skin mags, "Baywatch"), it just freaks people out. Says far more about the person who's offended than it does the bf moms, imo.

MommyToAshley replied:
ITA!

Maybe you could write a letter to the management of the radio station. You have a way with words, I am sure you would get the point across. Not sure if they would care or not, but it might make them think twice before saying something like that again.

coasterqueen replied: People are so ignorant. Plain and simple. It's amazing. They should think before they speak.

Kaitlin'smom replied: mad.gif sad.gif that makes me mad and sad how dumb people are when it come to BF, I was saddend when I went to a baby shower and I asked if she was going to nurse her son, she said now way I cant do that and work, I explained to her that is is possibel to do both I did and I knew of several women who have, but she also inculed that it was gross and that her DH (if they are still together ) would be the one to get up in the middle of the night and feed him. wink.gif I did express how good it was for the baby even if she only di dit while on maternity leave, and left the conversation at that, sadly I know she did not even try sad.gif I admit I was unsure about nursing, how it would feel and such but it was so different and the best experience I just wish it would have lasted longer.

lsjulee replied: mad.gif How childish!! Ignorant!! mad.gif

Kirstenmumof3 replied: smash.gif smash.gif smash.gif That is just terrible! I don't understand what is wrong with people! I never ever thought that I would still be breastfeeding Claudia. If you had asked when we first started I would have said past a year, forget it. But it allows us that time together and I like that I can still comfort her when she is upset. People are so misinformed! I'm glad that the Breastfeeding Coalition is holding the Breastfeeding Challenge in the Mall this year. Maybe that way it will wake people up and get rid of the negativity surrounding breastfeeding!

DansMom replied: I just can't go near any form of talk radio or talk TV these days! There's a lot of "hot air" out there, a lot of drivel from idiots that makes me nauseated and depressed to hear. I'm glad I wasn't listening to this lot! It would make me fume all day. I'm shy too, but I also feel that it would be futile to call in. They would just make you an object of derision, like the guy who called being supportive of his wife. Uggh.

Mailes_mommy replied: I think because im so opinionated about and being in LLL im very vocal but it irks me when even my own family start bashing breastfeeding im like hello ...

what really pisses me off is my own dr bashing it.
