Ok Teacher All Ready called back - oooooo

TANNER'S MOM wrote: Ok, she called as soon as school let out. She said you have already called the principal and councelor? I said yes I have.

She said he moved up front before class was out..... Battle won there.

We discussed some ADD issues. She agreed that she was just brainstorming..

She that after Tanner got in trouble last night at home he was a different child today. I told her he likes to push. He will do good for a few weeks and then try to get his way.. And I have to stay on him. He is by no means perfect. And will push like any other kid. She said I think he Does push me and try to get away with more. Yes thats a 7 year old for you.

Umm I told her that I hate that I don't get feed back during the week. That she lets it get Bad before she calls..and to me that is too long.

I asked her to work with me. I don't want to take to much time. But if she could do a piece of paper with a happy for good days and a sad face for other days and give to him daily, I will look for them and deail with him accordingly. She agreed to do this. She she went thru his grade rooster and he had all A's in every class except Math and Reading and there was a few B's mixedin but mostly B's..so can't complain there.

I know my son is not perfect...and he is pushing her. Now tonight we will have a family meeting about the happy faces and SAD faces I will get daily and what the punshiment will be ..if he looses them especially if it is a sad face... NO RODEO and NO HORSE.. Man I am mean!

Thanks guys for helping me!

My2Beauties replied: I"m glad she called back and I am soooo glad she moved him up to the front of the class. If his behavior doesn't improve by being moved to the front then testing wouldn't hurt, but I bet anything she will see an improvement! wink.gif

TANNER'S MOM replied: Yes I agree totally! I want to try this...and I am not opposed to testing. You know. But I think we need to realize how much organization and neatness can u really except from a 7 year old? I think sometimes we expect to much.. You know.

Ok..we only have a month and half left of school.. So I am thinking hard on this!

Mel

gr33n3y3z replied: yes some do expect to much from the kids
But they need this for the older grades and it helps so much in the routine of having everthing found right away.

TANNER'S MOM replied: Oh I am personally a neat freak. Everything on my desk is in a spot and I know where everything is..same with my car and home..

And to be honest Tanner has the neatest room of all the kids..that is why the neatness as been a shock..

But by neatness I mean in handwriting etc..

I will find something he wrote and post it for you opionions..lol

TANNER'S MOM replied: Ok he drew this and it shows how he writes his names..

This does represent his good work with Drawing.

Mommy2BAK replied: well, being a student who is studying to be a Elementary Teacher I can honestly say that the way this teacher is handeling things is not my way at all. I think it is good to keep an open end of conversation at all times with the parents and not just call when it gets BAD, call when the child is doing good too. But I bet now that he is moved up to the front he will be much better, and fyi a teacher should never try to diagnosis a child as ADD.

A&A'smommy replied: WOW I think I must have missed a post...

But I'm glad you guys are working together that will make things much better for both of you!

mammag replied: Just read both of these posts (I've been out most of the day) and I think you handled it excellently!

I think his handwriting looks normal for a 7yr old. Cade's is similar and he's 8. Kristen's was pretty bad at that age and now all of a sudden it has gotten pretty.

Hopefully things will improve now that he is moved up. I know how hard it is on you. We had the big run in with Kristen's teacher and I knew it was more the teacher than anything because she has never had a problem. Since the anonymous email I sent her things have gotten soooo much better. Sometimes when they don't have kids, like you said, they just don't know how to relate to the children.

JAYMESMOM replied: He writes just like my son does and he is 1st grade too. The handwriting comes with time and all you can do is work them. I find my son writes better on wide ruled paper vs. the special big paper they normally give them. I am glad to hear that she moved him up, this should help tremendously. A's and B's are good!!!!

kimberley replied: i am glad you worked everything out. just stay on them about this though so they don't slack.

as for the writing, Jacob's printing is awful still and he is in grade 3. they decided to start him on cursive anyway and his handwriting is shockingly perfect. i remember being in grade school and most of the boys printing sucked. i think it is normal.

Mel, it sound like Tanner is doing well over all. i wouldn't be too concerned. you are doing a good job thumb.gif
