Oh no you don't!!!

Maddie&EthansMom wrote: unsure.gif wacko.gif blink.gif huh.gif Ethan crawled out of his crib this afternoon. nosmiley.gif He is WAY too young for this. I'm not ready for him to go to a big boy bed nor is he ready for one. Maddie was in a her big bed before she was 18 mos old, but she understood and was a lot more mature than he is. What am I going to do? He didn't do it again tonight. I'm hoping it scared him b/c after all, it wasn't a graceful lunge. blink.gif He was pretty shaken and confused. I hope that taught him a lesson. I wanted to keep him in his crib for awhile.

Mom2Boyz replied: Oh No ohmy.gif That's not a good sign!!!
Hopefully he learned his lesson, and will be content to stay in his crib a bit longer.

Conner just climbed out of his crib for the first time a couple of days ago, and he wasn't very graceful about it either tongue.gif He hasn't done it since thumb.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: ohmy.gif Can you lower it anymore? Kait only climbed in her crib only once she tried ot get out, and it got lowerd right then. I dont think if it still was a crib she woudl be able to climb out but who knows.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Wil started to try to climb out of his crib at 11 months! The crib was already on it's lowest level, so I had DH take it down and Wil's been sleeping in his Pac N Play for over a month now. I don't like it, but I didn't want to take the risk of him falling out. I asked my ped about it on our last visit and she said that kids at this age forget things fast, so I may try to put the crib up again and see if he won't even try to climb over again. Maybe he won't remember how he did it. In your case though, I suppose you want him to remember so that he's too scared to do it again!

What about a toddler bed or the mattress on the floor? I tried the mattress on the floor first, but Wil is not mature enough to know to stay in it. I'm too cheap to go buy a toddler bed. So I'm just waiting until he's ready for a twin I guess.

moped replied: I am a bit of a frak but the same people that taught me sleep and discipline and all that stuff have talked about moving to a crib and basically they follow and "unhurried" approach to parenting, they say do not move them until 3..........I know it sounds crazy. If they fall out chances are they will not do it twice.............so I am sure he will stay in there now...............there is an article I can get for you on this I think - it was quite good if I remember.

I can get all sorts of articles, i pay a yearly fee to ask questions, access the reading room and go to courses at a cut rate.

I will read some more and see if anything would interest all you guys

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
I would love to read an article on this!! I want our crib back!!!

moped replied: Rae, I promise you that you can set up your crib....................let me see if I can find that article.

moped replied: I made a new post with that article..........................it is interesting, and let me tell you, I am keeping Jack in his crib until college!!!

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I read it in GD...THANKS Jen! YAY I get my crib back! Hope he still likes it though... rolleyes.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: My DD climbed out of her crib once when she was 14 months old. She got a few bruises and must have learned her lesson and never tried it again.

I agree, keep them in the crib until they are mature enough to stay in a big bed. Good Luck!

ilovemybaby replied: unsure.gif Hi I'm a newbie but I can totally relate! My daughter got out of her crib/cot at 14 months! We had just put her to bed and about five or ten minutes later we heard her screaming and she was standing up on the floor next to the cot. I'm not sure if she fell out somehow or climbed out... So we put her into a single bed and bought one of those bed rails. We haven't had any problems with the single bed. And she loves the fact that she can stand up on her bed and look out her bedroom window at the guinea pig! smile.gif

A&A'smommy replied: ohmy.gif OMG poor boy I hope it did teach him a lesson!!
