mom2my2cuties wrote: This dog has MAJOR gas! Not only does it sound like an old man - but it smells worse than my husband does after eating bell peppers or onions!

Is there anything I can give him for this???

mckayleesmom replied: Perhaps some Beeno is in order??? rolling_smile.gif

Other than that...did you happen to switch his food when you got him? That will usually give them bad gas for a while.

aspenblue1 replied: What kind of food are you feeding him???

mom2my2cuties replied: Yes I switched his food. He was on this cheap crap from the dollar store and we put him on Beniful since it's better for him than the other stuff

I am about to give him some Gas-X this is HORRID! I mean this dog can clear a room.

C&K*s Mommie replied: Beneful (come to find out from Nadia) messes with some dogs systems. Out last dog Pepper had MAJOR loose bowels ( puke.gif ) I was always the one being awoken in the middle of the night to clean it up. puke.gif

Chris bought it for our current dog, forgetting what I had told him about it. Kaipo is on his last fill up, and has had some probs every now and again but nothing MAJOR like Pepper. He has not had any gas, TG.

So it may be as Nadia (happymom) said to me. Beneful can wreak havoc on a dogs system.

mom2my2cuties replied: Hmmm well at least I only bought a small bag smile.gif

I think I might go to that Lamb & Rice stuff -

We are litterally holding our noses and walking around with him. He also got fed pizza thanks to Miss Andrea. smile.gif So I think that might be part of it. I found out she was picking all her olives off her pizza and then feeding the rest to Augie.

luvbug00 replied: Hey Trish. yes it was the rapid change in food that messed with your dogs innerds here's what ya gotta do. go get his crap food and gradualy add th new food you want him to have . most dog foods are full of fillers and will cause gas. especialy avoid beniful, science diet ( dr.s are highly paid to promote that one and it's all fillers of crap) and genaric brands. Purina is good , wellness is the Best anything natural if you want is awsome. You were 100% dead on with the formulas though anything and rice is great for dogs. for right now give him some rice and chicken because he will probaly have loose stools and the #1 way to stop that is chicken and rice ( human food) until the poop hardens again. Let me know if you need any help wink.gif Dogs are my life. rolleyes.gif emlaugh.gif

mummy2girls replied: LOL... I experienced this before with a dog at my work... it was awful i had to put him outside! and it was those silent ones so you have no idea its creeping your way... rolling_smile.gif

aspenblue1 replied: Just and FYI the best dog foods are Eukanuba, Science diet, or Pro plan. Those are the highest of dog foods. you want to make sure you mix the dog food with what the dog was previously eating. If you just switch it can cause issues with digestion. I would do a 50/50 mix to start and keep raising it.

mom2my2cuties replied: Yeah I am doing the mixing...which is why I only bought a small amount.

luvmykids replied: Nadia can correct me if I'm wrong but as long as corn (or any form of it) isn't listed as one of the first few ingredients it's at least an ok dog food.

hawkshoe replied: Oh my goodness, I can't help but laugh. You have to get the book "Walter the Farting Dog" by William Kotzwinkle and Glenn Murray.

mom2my2cuties replied: I live with "Augie the farting dog" He is at it again this morning. I have been gagging the whole time.

We are cutting people food out of his diet completely to see if it helps too. I know he is having some tummy issues, because of the stress of getting a new family.

luvbug00 replied:

Right. First and formost In no way am I saying you HAVE to feed your dogs this stuff.I wanted to share what I have learned after reasrching and experience. Feed them what you think is best for them as you are their owners not myself. And like with children you will know what is best for your dog. happy.gif

Most foods like science diet contain grains , corn and animal by products. lots of the corns and flours are the cause of tummy trubbles. Of course Dogs decend from wild creatures so they would eat meats, eggs . This is why the "Raw" diet is regaining popularity. The diet is shown to vastly improve a dogs health and features such as coat and such. I personaly could never go to that extreme. wink.gif So I feed natural kibble foods.

the science diet ingrediance list. and link to it.

mom2my2cuties replied: He seems to be at least a little better right now. I started him on a Gas Be Gone supplement that the vet recommended.

Jolyn replied: The best thing i have found for my doggy when he gets gas or has potty issues is
Cottage Cheese. He loves it and it helps him right away.

When we first got him our breeder told me if he had issues if we switched his food to give him CC and it would help. It always has whenever he has tummy problems.

Good luck...that gas is the worst. wacko.gif
